Is any of you looking for a new job? I quitted IBM Global Services a couple months ago and joined Booz Allen Hamilton. I've been working at the headerquarter office in McLean, VA. I'm just wondering if any of you are looking for a new job. I personally love the new job and planning on staying with the company for a while. I can do the formal referral if any of you are interested. Just a side note. The company is rated 75th out of the top 100 companies to work for in the US by CNN Money. We get 10% of our annual salary put into a retirement account! It's not like 401, we don't have to contribute a dime! You can't beat that. I need more Z buddies at the company!

It's still a good idea to invest your pre-tax money in a IRA or 401k.
I put in %6 of my salary and my company matches %75 (%4.5).
At the end of each year they match another %4.5 as a non-contributary retirement fund (goes into my 401k). %15 savings total.
So basically every year my company places %9 into my 401k and my taxes aren't as high because I contribute pre-tax money as well. Win-win situation.

its tempting, but hard to leave an 80k a year job where I don't have a degree. Altho I do have military background, and a security cleareance (have to double check). Dress code is probably business formal though? If I can wear my jeans and t-shirts ill come play, LOL!

Dress code sux here in the headquater. For guys, it's suit everyday. I do know some teams here that don't follow that. With military background and clearance, I'm sure you can find something great.
Just send me your resume if you're interested. My email address is ethanwlo@gmail.com. Oh and it'd be nice to include your my350z.com name in the email so I know who you are!

I did a co-op and internship with my company. So basically I've been with them for the past 6 years. In all honestly, considering my title is Sr Software Engineer, they could give two ***** about my EE degree (I guess my pay wouldn't be as high though).
As a matter of fact they never even ask for proof of graduation. I had already been there for 2 years (during college) so they just took my word. That's the tech world for ya, once you get your foot in the door you're golden.

Take advantage of the school opportunities at your firm, I think you need them. You do not "quitted" a job, you "quit" a job.

LOL)As for knowing what I am talking about... I really do try to keep my mouth shut if I don't have an immediate answer, and then do lots of research/ contact calling to find the answer. ‘Call a Friend’ is a very useful tool in the IT business

A degree only shows you have the ability to learn if given the correct tools. Years of actual experience and glowing references... Those qualities prove you have the knowledge required to actually do the job and that is how a person should be evaluated for a position. {I cannot stress enough, your reputation is everything. How you are perceived by your colleagues is VERY important to your personal success}
Unfortunately, here in the US (and increasing internationally), it is assumed every able-bodied person goes to college. If you have not, then you have not demonstrated a desire to learn/ work hard in the business world. I did the military thing and by the time I got out, I could not afford to take the 4 year education route.
I won’t get on my soap box on this, but suffice it to say, so far, I have not found it economical to go back to school for my degree. Maybe that will change, or maybe I will find it is too late and I have lost opportunities. Who knows. --B
