Default So I went over a pothole and got a flat tire...

Anyone know if the state or city compensates for damages incurred on cars resulting from poor road conditions? This was in Baltimore City.

The only way there's a chance in hell anybody will get compensated for it if it happened to multiple cars and it was a documented problem in the road. There's a procedure required where you need to report a hazardous road condition or something of the like to the DOT immediately - otherwise the issue with the road is never documented. You will also need to go back and take pictures of the road et cetera.

Same thing happened to my friends Mazda3. It ended up bending his rim. A week later, instead of filling the hole the city just put a sewer cap over it. Yea it was that big.

Good luck with that...

May I suggest road hazzard insurance on your next set of tires.... Seems like a waste of money until you actually need it.

Take a picture of thhe potholle and damage and write down the location of the pothole (try to be as exact as posible). Call the appropraite DOT authority in that jurisdiction. Not sure exactly who to talk to but they DO give reimbursments. I'd try it. I've heard it has paid off for a few customers of ours in MD and D.C., not sure of VA though. Hope that helps. But they will require the proper documentation (pictures, estimate, and location).
