Default DIY thread: List what u have done to your Z/G.. or others

I am curious of what everyone has done on their own on the G35 or other EDIT: G's Z's
After being screwed over with a clutch install last year, i decided to fix everything on my own (my warranty ran out too)

I guess i can say i had never had a mechanic job before, but doing this brought me lots of experience.

1.) Turbo install (greddy) RX8 2004 + emanage
2.) Clutch, Flywheel, Transmission install G35/350zs -record time is 5.5 hrs
3.) 06 headlight install
4.) Cold air intake lol...
5.) Oil change/ transmission flush
6.) Exhaust/ down pipe . G35
7.) Body-Kit (didn't paint it)
8.) clutch pedals (sounds easy, but time consuming)
9.) Ripped off my side moldings-leaving no marks
10.) Gauges:boost, egt, and recalibrating the wideband
11.) Spark plugs/ compression test
12.) water pump and belt replacement (toyota echo)
(the ac blew up in my face when i was a retard and unplugged it)

most of these were petty work, some really time consuming, but i am actually glad i saved SOOO much money by doing lots of these, i wanna tell all of you that so many of these are actually easy and can be done by anyone who puts time into it...

So list what u've done, no matter how petty they are, because IT SAVED YOU MONEY!

^ Great to hear/read.

I've done the install on my side Zignalz (Emblem becomes a turn signal) <-- not easy. Quite a bit of electrical work.
My shift ****, E-brake, shift boot and E-boot.
OEM LED taillights ... easiest install there is.
My rear Kic spacers ... I had to trim all 10 studs by a 1/4 inch for them to fit.
Shaved and replace my rear Nissan Burger.
Alberto has done my Tanabe springs and rolled my fenders.

Very impressive to the OP.
I've only done a handful of DIYs b/c I don't have many tools or have a lift.
Installed:
-Cold Air Intake
-Ground wires
-Aluminum pedals
-Splash guards
-Clear corners
-Oil changes (not on the G)

good read... laughing my @ss off about the front license plate thing

if anyone needs a lift on the weekend, just hit me up, my navy base has a garage with all the tools required for just about anything!

I'm glad that there are people out here, no matter how small would rather do it themselves and learn, rather than waste money at the shop.... trust me it was a little scary to things on my own first, but boy is it rewarding to get it done and save money ^^

1) Personally hand built A VQ35 short block. Rods, Pistons, ARP hardware etc. Just needed a shop to bore and hone the cylinders. I have micrometers and did the bearing clearances myself etc. File fit piston ring end gaps.
2) Ported and Polished heads, VQ30 and VW 16v heads.
3) Tore down and rebuilt a few Maxima 5spd trans. De-burred and polished transmission gears before sending them off to be cryo treated and shot peened. Installed a Quaife.
4) Measured for a roll cage to be bent then cut it to fit, notched the pipe ends and welded it in the Maxima.
5) Swapped motors several times in the Maxima
6) Swapped transmissions countless times in the Maxima.
7) Suspension swaps several Maxima's and my G
8) 650cc Injectors on the G
9) test pipes on the G
10) UTEC with tuner and MAP on the G
11) Vacuum out and recharge AC
12) Rim screws on drag rims with slicks
13) Nitrous direct port on a VW 16v
14) Dry and Wet nitrous on the Maxima with all the bells and whistles.
15) Installed single turbo kit on my Maxima. Customized and welded some of the piping/ Added a T66 turbo.
16) Bake upgrades, rotors, pads, lines
17) Walbro pump install on Max and G. (first one in a Maxima)
18) Fuel pump voltage booster and fuel pump wiring upgrade in the Maxima all the way to the pump from the voltage booster.
19) Kenne Bell Boost a Spark install on the Maxima to overcome spark blow out.
20) MD 5/16 spacer install on G
21) Dyno tuned and road tuned my Maxima with Turbo, Nitrous, Wideband, Emanage Blue, J&S Safeguard. Many Many Many dyno visits over the past 8 years with the Maxima for tuning. 450whp was the last dyno on boost alone. NEVER BLEW A MOTOR, most others chasing my times in the Maxima world have blown motors. Pushed the stock VQ30 to 430whp
22) Currently still hold the record for 60' 1.6, 1/4 11.4 and MPH 126, in a Maxima on slicks. And the 1/4 11.9 and MPH 130 in a Maxima on DOT tires. The Maxima is ack to stock now though.
23) The usual sound system upgrades, head units, processing, separates, subs, wiring etc in several cars.
24) Stealth radar detactor and laser jammer install in the G

Soon to do a front clip removal, engine pull and Greddy TT install on the G

Lots and lots of maintenance work.

I'm sure their is other things too. My theory is unless the tools are significantly more than the work, like mounting tires, alignment, boring and honing cylinders, I would rather purchase the tools and do it my self to have complete confidence that the work was done right and the maximum performance was extracted from the upgrade. And its a great feeling to DIY!!!

You gotta start somewhere. A lot of people don't even know how to change their spare tire out.

no comment on that last part.. hahah.. well, i havent bothered to try, but im confident enough to know how to if needed

is the pop charger supposed to make a hissing around certain mid rpm levels? i havent had a chance to take it on a highway to go faster, but some say its got a really good growl to it... i have yet to hear this

**edit
i just put the car through WOT and it sounds awesome! found out all the whine at mid rpms is normall.. but daym the sound at WOT is great!@ lovin this
