Default ***Mid-Atlantic Yearly Drag Event***

Hey Guys,

First I would like to say THANK YOU!!...The owner at the track said to me personally that you guys were a great group and that everything went extremely well.

Now comes the fun part. Would you guys like to set this up as a yearly event? I think it would be a great idea. We had a very nice turn out and I think we can do better

We dont have to use Mason Dixon, its up to you guys which track you prefer. I dont mind Mason Dixon, but there are faster tracks close to us.

Im setting up a poll, so please take the time to vote.

Thanks again for making this a real fun time. Little stressful for me at the beginning. But everything went real well.

Todd

twice a year, (spring around beginning of april, and fall, beginning of october)

we should use Cecil County dragway, I hear they are much faster. That way people can be much happier with their times.

MIR was too expensive. We talked about it at the track. Cecil hopefully shouldn't be that bad though.

I know last year was expensive but wasn't that for the whole day? I wonder if it would be less for something like the 4 hours we had at this one... I dont really mind where it is I just know times were sick there.

Yeah, that sounds like a possibility. Hopefully 4 hours should be reasonable. Since MIR is much bigger I won't have to slam on my brakes after I cross the finish line.

i think 4 hours was the perfect amount of time everyone got in the runs they wanted and it wasn't rushed or long waits or anything

I guess what we need to do is contact all of the local tracks and find out the prices.

1. price to rent the track
2. How much for each additional car
3. How much for 4 hours or do they do it by the hour
4. If we run at night. How much per hour

What are our choices at this point?

1. MIR
2. Cecil
3. Captial
4. Mason Dixon

Any others?

Let me know
Todd

Cecil doesnt do rentals. MIR and Capitol do. Price wise Capitol will be cheaper than MIR, they both hook well, but MIR is faster for traps in my experience.

I say bang-for-buck ... Crapitol. It's just as far away or closer at Mason-Dixon.

Good idea.

Say the word “race,” and you know that I am there. Mason Dixon is fine. Its in your backyard, and easier for you to coordinate than say Cecil County.

There is a core of about 20 Mid-Atlantic racers that you can count on. You may have 30 or 40 members say “I am in,” but like this time, only about 20 will show.

I would prefer cooler weather in October or April.

I was pleased with the number of Mason Dixon staff. There must have been 5 staff members on hand.

Cecil County is a great track, but not exactly a central location for Mid-Atlantic members. Its 52 miles north of Baltimore.

I like Cecil and don't mind the drive. Capitol is literally in our backyard and I can offer a spare bed, two couchs, and maybe some floor space to people coming from far away. Hell, if the deal goes through for this house I'm trying to buy I'll host the after party.

Yeah, capitol is 10-15 min away from me. That would work.

Post Some info on the tracks in the area

Capital

http://www.capitolraceway.com/

Track Elevation is 20 feet above sea level.

Mason Dixon

http://www.masondixondragway.com/

Track Elevation is 550 Feet above sea level

MIR

http://www.mirdrag.com/

Track Elevation is 80 Feet above sea level

Cecil

http://www.cecilcountydragway.com/

Track Elevation is 320 feet above sea level

Looking at this, i would assume Capital would be the fastest track.. Well, if the track is prepped nicely.

Im down for whatever though.

Crapitol would be my choice. I pulled a 2.15 60' on my anchor twenties. My best and only clean run was 14.6X. At Mason-Dixon my best was 14.46. From looking at everyone's runs I think everyone was runninng slow. Todd should have broke 12s and berto should have brokes 10s (After letting up in 3rd/4th).

I would like to see twice a year...I would think that some people work on their cars over the "off season". Spring would be nice to get a first look at everyones new toys and fall would be nice to see what gets ironed out by the end of the season. As far as location I like Mason Dixon because it 5 min from home, but I would really like to try a "faster track". So where ever it is, I'll most likely be there. Had lots of fun on Friday.

Come on Keith, don't use that famous line of yours that "I am too old" haha. PS I heard you talked to the porcelain for a little bit at this past track day Maxon Dixon!
