Keith, is your D.M. Mark Simon? I work (for 3 more days) for NTB, he used to be our old DM. That guy sure loves to bug the salespeople with flash messages.

You can always join the military if all else fall. From what I heard, it's a good career.

ahhhhhh I was in the military, then I sold cars Selling cars was no joke; you have good months, you have bad months. Some people are just naturally adept at it and can hang in through the bullsh1t, while others either can't sell worth crap or they wise up and get a better gig: I fell in the latter group, I went to college and decided not to work like that anymore... well, we will see if that statement actually holds true

I know what you mean about asshat customers... its what ruins the whole experience. Ironic isn't it?!!!!

I can try to get you a job or at least an interview.

www.ferguson.com

www.ferg.com go to the jobs section to see a few examples

I work 7am to 5:00 or 5:30 PM everyday with no break! Thats just a regular day. We have locations all over the country, excellent benefits and tons of room to advance in the company. We mainly sell commercial, residential, and industrial plumbing, heating, tools, and valves.

thanks for replying, everybody... I just needed to vent... I applied for a bunch of staffing agencies, I'll see what they can offer...funny, I used to own a staffing agency myself last year... heh.

We had construction going on all this month, we sold only 120 cars this month, usually we sell 250-300, so I decided to give it another month, bust my butt off in October and see what happens.

I feel ur pain... I sold cars a while back... I was there for about 8 months... people would leave over $50 difference after spending all day with them trying to make a sale!

Forget that joke of a company!! Merchants is by far the biggest scam artist of any company i have ever worked for. By far ripped off more people then ANY dealer I have ever been at. Now in your deffense, it could have just been my district as*hole, but either way, the company as a whole could not care any less about their employees.

example.... just so I don't sound like a raging idiot....

-managers are to work 630am - 6pm m-f, and only get a 1/2 hour lunch
-not allowed two days off back to back, have to split them up
-managers have to be there every saturday open to close
-managers have to work every other sunday open to close
-no more then 5 days off in a row at a time
the list goes on and on but this is my favorite one...........
i changed my OWN springs after hours one evening, off the clock by a few hours, borrowed tools from a tech, didn't even use a lift, and they made me pay for labor. Remind you, i wasn't a tech, i was the service manager. I did my own work and they made me pay flat rate labor time to do it. In return, one would think that the labor then would be paid back to me just like a tech would get paid for working on a car. Not true, they charged me to do my own work...period.

forget that place...what a rip off!!! still doing "super sales" every other weekend...what a freagin' joke.

moral of the story, DO NOT work for that company or related companies ie: tire kingdom!

do you really hate the car business or commissioned sales?

most of these jobs have have their ups and downs...just have to average everything out over a year.

real estate agents have it real bad though....hurting and making less than you are....3 years ago they were pulling in crazy commissions. 4% on 3-5 homes every month. now, nothing.

I know this is mid a but I came across this thread anyway.

I used to work with a guy that was an ex car salesman. He would always talk about these guys he called jackers. They would come i and work him all day to his lowest quote and then go down the street to get 50$ less on the same car from another dealership.

He also had a list of people that made rounds at car dealerships just to test drive cars but never buy.

That was in South Carolina so I guess the car business is the same everywhere.

Are you sure? I remember getting a few resume's but your SN isn't ringing a bell... PM me if you are still interested, we just opened a HUGGEEE new facility in Baltimore.

And to the guy ******* on Discount or merchants tire, theres no reason to bust someones ***** for hard work!!! I work at a 15 billion dollar a year business I work 7am-5, 5:30, 6:00 (no break, for four years now!!) whatever it takes to get the job done. This is how you get where you want to be unless mommy and daddy are going to hand you everything for the rest of your life.
