Default Car toys 2, ftl or ftw?

Do they live up to their name?
I've had a front bumper go in and out of there about 3 times and they just can't get the Silverstone color down.
I've seen their work and it's look awesome and top notch, but my bumper is another story.
It's been there since middle-end of August and I just got it back yesterday for the third time, and it's just not right.
Here's a picture to compare to stock,

Should I go somewhere else? And if so, where (preferably in the Baltimore area)

I have heard many times that Silverstone is a hard color to match but when mine was that color, I had a Nismo kit put on and it matched perfectly. So, it can be done. Maybe have another shop do a test panel for you.

I've never seen a car with a perfect color match, from what I understand, even if color match the paint using a computer to get a "perfect" color paint, you still add variations to the color due to the angle and distance of the paint gun. Also some colors seem to clearly show the difference while others are not so easy.

I've found that at the right viewing angle a color will match, but with the right light and wrong viewing angle the color will seem off.

Every car I've had painted in the past has been like that.

If the paint is only slightly off is your main problem that's not to shabby, I had a car that I sent back 3 friggin times due to major paint runs. That was at a major USAA insurance recommended shop. I'm not talking small runs, I'm talking major runs. Then another car I sent back because they pissed a spot, a spot as in they shot the car but didn't hit the corner and it was bare.
again a major body shop.

At least the people there seem to (from your picture) know how to shoot a nice coat of paint. As far a the color goes, maybe someone on here is a body guy and will step in on if it's true about color matching being pretty much near imposable, most people just never notice it.

Usually color matches won't happen unless you give your whole car to them for a week so they can blend it in with the fenders and hood. Here is an example of their work with blended fenders and a respray of my front bumper:

Then again, LS is a very easy color to match, CS is one of the more harder ones. I haven't seen a single body shop that matched CS 100%. It's almost as bad as white!

abui01, It's silverstone not chromesilver.

I understand the color can't be perfectly matched, but then again, I don't want them to blend it in, because then, my car will be a different color if they use the color they painted the bumper with.

Silverstone has blue's and green's in the paint, and the one I got back shows no sign of those colors, just a straight silverstone color.

Even under flouresant lighting, there should be no difference between the two bumpers, but there is.

Once again, I don't want to put down CT2, but they did a shady job on this bumper, paint is running and parts of the bumper are not correctly painted. All of this is mainly under the lip part of the bumper and is not visible, but it shouldn't matter and reckon be close to flawless.

Yeah, I think I saw your bumper in their shop when I'm up there and I'm pretty sure is a genuine Nismo Ver.1, I recently have them work on my Nismo Ver.2 body kit, they had my kit for almost 2 months just for painted only, they still can't get it right (the color match), they told me the only way to get right is to blend all the penals: fenders, doors, rear quarters...etc, of course additional charge.

Exactly. I don't want to pay extra for a simple job.
lol, I think I saw your old body parts sitting outside the shop, DB? Or it could of been widebody's stock stuff sitting out there.

Nah, it's the aerosync replica :P

PPW and SS are by far the most PITA colors to match. There are so many variants in the colors that’s not even funny. Their probably 4 to 6 different variants that will make it lighter, darker, greener, or more blue... I know this because I have PPW and when I got in the accident on the front end, I knew that it was not going to match 100% so I went the extra mile and had the shop paint the whole car so I will get a clean look. The other colors in the z's have about 2 variants witch makes it a lot easier to match.

Have u spoken to them see if u can some how make it match?

Juan, the only way Arthur said it would match is to blend, but if they blend in that color that the bumper is already painted, I'll have a different colored Z.

But even with color codes, they can't mix it properly?

Nope. Thats why some shops will use a computer that can scan the paint and mix up the paint right there on the spot.

You have to factor in wear and tear, sunlight exposure and other things like how well you have kept up with the paint.

Then theres the who angle of attack with the paint gun, the air mix and so on.

I agree that they would have to blend it to make it seem like it's a perfect match. Sounds like they even told you that.

Now for the runs in the paint, there's no reason for that.

+1 For a perfect match, they need the car there, and it needs to be blended. If you want perfect (especially with a color like that) then it needs to be blended. Thats not to say that it couldn't be close without blending though.

The runs are VERY non typical of them from my experience and I'd assume given their reputation as a good shop they'd take care of those.

From the pic the OP posted it actually looks like tha isn't even the right silver. Are you sure they're using the right silver? The V.1 looks more silverstone and your stock bumper looks chromesilver. Just make sure.

My bumper is silverstone and over a year old. My paint you could say is top notch, I take care of it nicely and exceptionally.

I gave them color codes, WV2-silverstone.

Two months for paint only I bought my nismo kit
redline red (used) had it preped and repainted super black in three days came out perfect. Silverstone may be harder to get right but no way should it take that long you may want to try another shop
