350Zanniemal and 4SHIZZIL are you guys in the NN division of Northrop? How are you liking it there? I was just offered a job as a software engineer and was wondering what your experience at the company has been like.

NGC is a great company. They are one of few that has a PENSION plan, that you dont place any money into. This is aside from the standard 401K and matching. I work for NGIT which falls under Civilian Agencies Group. I love it and our team is off the hook....TENGAI included (subcontractor).

Note: every location is different and every contract is different. There is always one bung holio in the group. Fortunately for us everyone is cool for the most part. Our customer likes to drink beer and talk about the Ravens game for at least an hour each Monday during the season. So I do have to work at home on Sunday..(WATCHING THE FOOTBALL GAME!) lol

Welcome to the team, keep an open mind, and ask for as much training as the budget will allow. They pay me 5250 a year for school, but my school is like 15K a year so that leaves no money left over for FI..

shoot me a pm with your ngc email when you get it.

Hey thanks for the response! My interviewer did tell me the job would allow quite a bit of training and they have a sizeable budget to get new-hires aboard and productive. He also told me that there is plenty of opportunity to travel (this specific group apparently works with quite a few other divisions in NGC and has contracts in places like Turkey and Australia).

I am currently an engineer at Motorola, but with the severe problems Motorola is having (horrible stock performance and the company isn't profitable) they are doing a lot of cutbacks. The company won't even pay for me to do a professional masters program in EE. That's why I am trying to jump ship into a more stable position that provides me with a lot more growth opportunities.

The NGC guys said they paid for a lot of their employees to get MS and MBA degrees so I was really excited about that, and also the stuff defense contractors like Boeing IDS, Lockheed and NGC do are just a hell of a lot more interesting than what Motorola does. I have about a month to look over the offer so once I do I will certainly let you know what I decide!
