Got pulled over today...
Headed home from work, driving on the GW Parkway heading towards the Mount Vernon estate. I'm coming around a slight curve, not a care in the world, poly pro and a ski cap on, drivers window down. Then I see the front end of a Crown Vic sticking out of the woods. I easeeee down on the breaks, but, toooo late. Out he comes into the road, lights on.
I hit the blinker and pull over. I then decided to put my other window down, hoping he didn't notice my illegal *** tint. He walks up to my car, I have my military ID sitting on my lap, and my BDU top on the passenger seat. I'm still wearing the rest of my uniform (pants, boots, all that good stuff). He walks up to my car, checking it out as he comes closer. Leans in and says " I pulled you over for speeding, 62 in a 45. License and..."
Right then he looks around, saw my ID, saw my pants, saw my BDU top in my seat. Looked at me (all clean shaven and short hair) and continues with:
"Just your license will do."
I smile and say yes sir.
I hand him my license and he begins to ask me questions, like:
" Your car smells like fumes, are you running with out cats?" and "What percent is your window tint??"
Of course I tell him the truth, saying that I have no cats, and have 20 percent tint. He looked suprised, and then mentioned that both are illegal in VA. I told him I was in MS for the past 6 months, and did all the modifications there, and have been too busy with work and training to spend time on the car.
He handed me my license and said " Starting on Sunday, my main strip will be this parkway. That is one of my good spots back there, so watch out for it. If I see you speeding, I'll hit you with a tint law. If I get you again, I'm giving you the full blown ticket. Slow down, and take care of this illegal modifications. Or you can just take Route 1 home and not worry about it. Have a good day, and thank you for serving."
I say thank you very much sir, and have a good day. I started my car and he turned around and watched as I left.
Awesome cop I must say. I drove the speed limit all the way home

I keep my Military ID with my Driver's License in a folding compartment in my wallet. Ready if ever needed. (It has save be by the way, when I was in Hawaii, and got stopped doing 75 in a 35). I was ready to kiss my license good by and his tone of voice was confirming it till he saw the Military ID. So who says military doesn't have it's privileges - sometimes that is.

Hey Basinger, you'll ALWAYS get lucky around there. I've been pulled a total of 5 times off-post and got out of every ticket because of my status. One cop got me going ~100 on the parkway (right out by the INSCOM gate). I told him I was tuning and setting my boost. He said I had 20 minutes to finish. I damn near pissed myself with joy (then again, it was ~2 in the morning).
When I came back from Iraq for R+R, I was getting all kine comps left and right. I tried turning them down, but people would refuse it. I love NoVA for that (and the south in general).

if a car has test pipes and you can't smell it...it means the fumes have killed off you brain cells which interpret that smell. I used to ***** at MRPratt going to the meets because he has the Navi and knew the way and I had to suck down the fumes!
I still give the cop credit for picking it up...he'll make detective some day

Chugg,
You hit the nail right on the head!!! Two guys in my Squad are from VA Beach. One was VA BEACH PD and the other was Norfolk PD. They tell stories all the time about busting sailors and marines. I dunno man, I never got a hard on for busting people.

I got pulled over today because the cop thought my license plate lights were blue. I told him they were white, they just looked blue because of the paint. Then he did a walk around and slapped me with a $60 no front plate ticket.
