This isn't Texas ... In Virginia we have civil fees added onto (new law passed last year) the ticket.

With added fees for the next 3 years, you should expect to pay over a $1K.

K no mater what, GET A LAWYER PERIOD

I've had an unbelievable amount of tickets, including 2 Recklesses, I still have my license, all thanks to... you got it, attorneys.

Even both the Recklesses were reduced, I'm not proud of it at all, I spent close to 8k in attorneys alone in 2007, and I must say, I learned my lesson, and drive slower than a grandma, I've been good for about 7 months now

anyway, Get a lawyer

Starting July 1, many traffic offenses, from expired licenses to speeding, come with a "civil remedial fee" attached. That means a motorist convicted of reckless driving (75 mph in a 55 zone would qualify) faces not only a fine of up to $2,500 and a year in jail, but a non-negotiable $350-a-year tax for three years. The law forbids judges from waiving or reducing the fee.

Some lawyers offer free consultation. Try the yellow pages for a start? Maybe even a google search in your area?

+1 get a lawyer, your gonna get plowed with a bunch of charges, might be worth it. take a driver improvement course too, can be found on the dmv website, that would help your cause in getting it lowered as well.

The civil fee fine is $2500 for reckless, I think, then you've got the penalty you gotta pay for 3 years, and -6 points on your license, and not to mention a MISDEAMENOR in your record

Cops around nova give recklesses like candy to a baby, it makes it seem like it's not a big deal, that it's just another ticket but it's really pretty damn serious

A lawyer is always a good idea (unless your confident you have the skillz to defend yourself) and if you can file for postponement a few times it may help deter the copper from showing

Street racing is basically car racing carried out on city streets. This is a highly illegal activity that violates many traffic regulations. There must be an agreement between two or more parties for the race to take place. Unlike careless driving, street racing is a deliberate offense and requires more work to defend.
