Default I Am Pissed Off!!!

I was at the local gun show today enjoy myself when my wife calls me, "Rick, I just got rear ended. Me and Taylor (daughter) are okay though...". So I drop everything I'm doing and get in the car and head her way. I got there and the Z looks fine, just lots of paint from the other car and a lot of spider webs from my paint cracking. I looked at the 01 Ford Escort and it is pretty bad. Radiator is leaking pretty bad, bumper, hood, grill jacked up. The Escorts air bags deployed and the windshield is all cracked. So I decided to look a bit further into my car. I look in the spare tire well and it is pushed in and the lip where the hatch meets the trunk is bent down, exhaust tips are crooked. So now I am pissed. So I found out what happens. My wife was coming to a stop on a red light in 4th gear while she is ridding the clutch because the light is about to turn green and she will be putting the car in 2nd. Well her foot slips and the car suddenly slows down. Well apparently this old lady came flying and hits my car from the back. There were no skid mark what so ever. She left her front plate impressions with paint at all on my bumper. After the police does their thing, they say they can't determent who's fault it is. At least they have insurance with a good company. I went straight to the shooting range to blow off some steam.

Any ways, this happened in Virginia Beach right off Little Creek Amphi Naval Base. I saw a couple of Z drove by and one of the them gave us a wave. So tomorrow I will take a close look and take some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Sorry just needed to vent a bit.

in a rear end, its the person who hit from the back's fault. i cannot think of a reason for it not to be.
those cops must not be smart >.<

you shouldnt have anything to worry about in 100% of the accidents if someone back ends someone the person who did the rear ending is at fault it doesnt matter what the other person is doing. ive been on the other end of it and had no option and it was my fault. your suppposed to give enought space so i would say your fine on the fact that its not your wifes fault but the person who rear ended you.

+1. Its likely their fault. I bet the cops only said to let the insurance company deal with it is because they felt bad for the old lady so they didnt want to say anything.

Skid marks or not. Green light or red light. The old lady slammed you from the back. She's responsible, your wife is not.

here are some pics. You can't really tell how much damage there is but if you look under the car, the bumper frame is all pushed in and cracked. The muffler is a bit bent, then from what I can see inside the spare tire well the floor and walls are damaged. The trunk doesn't completely close. My wife was complaining of fumes wen she drove it home. It goes in on Tuesday to get really looked at and fixed. Here are a few pics, notice the imprint of the other car's plate. This all we could see without taking stuff apart. Glad that my car held up better than the other car though.

Ford Escort=0

The color of the car makes it hard to see all the bents in the bumper.

Doesnt look that bad at all. Dont be pissed, man. The damage looks minimal and your premium wont go up nor will you need to pay a deductible. Everythings fine, just a lil inconvenient thats all.
