Ariel Atom?
Where do you get an Ariel Atom? I was searching online but couldn’t find any local dealers or used ones. I was looking at getting one as an alternative to a bike.
alternative to a bike????? sure why not, they are only about 65K decently loaded. I think they are finding dealers around the US but right now Ontario is the only place. One shows up at VIR every so often. Pretty sweet ride!

These are not a common car so there aren't "dealers". There's one distributor for the U.S. I believe. It's very fast, tunable, and handles AMAZING. There is a supercharged race version of one on their U.S. website for $108K. But you can find a few used in the 50-60K range. Basically they're customizable to you. Thats why you wont see them in the 30K range.

Evidently a lot of the US and Canadian versions have the GM ecotech 2 liter supercharged? While the one on top gear was a Honda engine? I wonder if there are kit cars that are comparable in size and weight to the ATOM?
Trending Topics
The difference in motor is beteween the Atom and The Atom 2 which is the U.S. version. The origional Atom was not offered in the U.S. markets thus had the Honda motor. The U.S. domestic versions have the ECO Tec motors but thats not to say you couldn't get the Honda motor if wanted.
The Eco Tec motor is actually a VERY well designed motor imo. Yes, it's GM but hey its a damn good motor for it's size and can produce solid power safely and reliability.

There is only one dealer/distributor in the U.S. Brammo Motorsports. You can build a decent one for around $45-50k, but it won't have the fastest motor available. They also have a day where you can drive one around the track all day for about $500. i believe they also include some conveniences such as lunch.
Here is the link (I've been tracking their progress with the Atom 2 in the U.S. market for a long time):

Here is a great video about the car. I especially like the "Alien" part!

EDIT: OK, so recently, Brammo announced an electric motorbike they manufacture. This seems to also correlate to a discontinuation of their partnership with Ariel. They no longer have information on their site other than some pictures of the Atom. Wow! They were sending me invitations to drive their car like twice a week and now they don't even have information on the Atom. This is all within the last month.
It looks like you can still sign up to drive the car at www.arielatomexperience.com.

That top gear episode was the first one I ever saw and I have been watching the show ever since. I wonder if cars like the atom will catch on. The kit car they built a few episodes back, the one where the Stig raced a finished version of that car to some city and the three of them had to build it before he reached them!!! What car was that?

T-rex are bad *** and if you don't think it's fast enough, it's a hayabusa motor and you can just slap on a 3 or 4 grand turbo set-up and run an easy 330whp which should satisfy your needs, however if you still want more, some people have been gettin 4 and 500 out of the Busa motors. Regardless, I think you should think about a motorcycle as nothing will provide the same feeling, I promise you that.
Was at VIR this weekend for member days and they announced that on March 1st Ariel Atom American headquarters will be located at VIR Raceway.

DANVILLE, VA. - TMI AutoTech, Inc., the new, exclusive manufacturers of the "Ariel Atom 3" supercar for North America, announced that its operations will be headquartered at VIRginia International Raceway's Raceplex industrial park.
"We are thrilled that the Ariel Atom 3 is going to be built here at VIR," said track General Manager Josh Lief. "The car is one of the most exciting cars available to the public. Its performance level makes it a great match for VIR's challenge." Lief continued, commenting that: "the Ariel Atom Experience is one of the most thrilling track days anyone has staged at VIR. We anticipate a long and happy relationship with them."
Selected from among other locations across the U.S. and Canada, the VIR location will be used for (<delete>) the Ariel Atom Experience, a way for customers to discover the thrill of driving an Ariel Atom on the track. Clients experience the cars and track after classroom instruction from professional race drivers and are guided through the steps of learning how to drive the cars quickly and safely on VIR's scenic course. At a curb weight of only 1,400 pounds and with as much as 300 horsepower coming from their supercharged GM Ecotec or new Honda two-liter engines, the cars, even in basic spec, are capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under three seconds.
If watching races on TV and talking about it around the water cooler just doesn't fill your need for speed any longer, the Ariel Atom Experience is just the ticket. Designed as a safe and thrilling day for novices and seasoned high-performance drivers alike, the Experience includes:
A fleet of new track-equipped Ariel Atoms
One-on-one professional instruction
Extensive track time driving the Atom
Use of custom driving equipment
Gourmet food & refreshments
Comfortable "pro racing" trackside hospitality facilities
Professional event photography In-car video and more.
TMI AutoTech plans to occupy an existing building at Raceplex with plans to invest $1.5 million in machinery and building modifications. The company will employ 75% of their staff locally. VIR will serve as a host location for future gatherings of Ariel Atom owners and prospective owners. TMI Autotech, Inc. will also be doing business with various support businesses in the region. "We will need metal stamping, bending, forming and fabrication services along with sub-assembly and other services to support our business", explained Dave Goadby, President & CEO of TMI AutoTech, Inc.
