i dont know. im getting mixed feelings on this. i understand that i have to obey the law but it really depends on how both parties go about it. whenever i skate now and i get told to leave i ask for, "ONE MORE TIME PLEASEEE!!!!" or i say alright and come back later.

the police in DC however are harsh! they take ONE wheel. JUST ONE so you cant skate for the rest of the day.

police in columbia are generally nice but there are the few power driven officers who display their authority when no one is giving them "lip" or being rude. in that case i cant help but laugh and carry on or be escorted off the premises only to come back a few minutes later.

in my opinion and experience, if you get harassed by a police officer for skating, listen for the time being! then go back later. its such a silly thing to get in trouble for, fight for and the officer to waste their time on.

Well things have not changed since the "last time you checked." I would have to watch the video again for the "strike" but that's not my issue. If you believe it's cool/ok/fine to disrespect officers because it's legal it probably has something to do with your youth and/or inexperience. Good luck living the rest of your life that way.

Looks like this is going to be taken care of after all. One more kid with an overprotective mom has learned a hard lesson about how to deal with authorities and one more dirty cop off the streets. The city will finally be safer and better for everyone.

I think the police officer acted over the top, but we dont know how much was he pushed to the limit.

 

That cop was a bit out of line, but I can't blame him.
The kids knew they could not skate there and they acted stupid and disrespectful to him.

Sad thing is, he is from Baltimore County and I know him, personally.
He lives 2 streets down from me and my neighbor is really good friends with his son and I've seen him several times and he does not act like that.

 

Throwing the kid on the ground, and as he pushes him self up, the officer shoves him to the ground again, thats a striking the boy in my book. That kid posed no threat at all, but the officer still had to man handle him? I guess you have to put a 14 year old kid in a headlock, and toss him to the ground to take his skateboard.

I never said it is ok to disrespect an officer. Don't put words in my mouth to make your argument look better.

Was it a University police officer? I hate to say it, but as a Terp I think my opinion counts, the University police are ridiculous! I don’t hate cops… I work for a police department and I’m a ccjs major, but the UMPD sucks b@lls! The officers are ridiculous!!! There is this one female officer who is so big…let’s just leave it at that she is HUGE!!! I don’t know how she or a few of the male officers are in the department… I mean it is a real police department!!! They are too aggressive with their ticketing and between them the Greenbelt police department and the PGPD it is like Marshal law!!! Last year at on the 5th of May they had a helicopter in the air to find all the big parties. That’s my rant…sorry and the Baltimore cop was hilarious!!! That dude must have had a bad day or life!!! To be that old and still a beat cop!!! He must have screwed up or just suck at what he does!!! Unless he loves what he does, but I don’t think that was the case.
