I was on my way to class today at GMU and bam an oldsmobile boat freakin rear ended me
. I hope he has good insurance cause my bumper and exhaust are fcuked. Do any one know if insurance companys cover aftermarket parts? It was his fault so it's on his insurance. How would I go about claiming my exhaust? Where should I go for the repairs?

When my car got hit with the first kit that Arthur put on (4 months after getting it back) the ladies insurance company had to pay for my Nismo Wing, aftermarket tails. They just told me to submit receipts or what the parts were. Oh and what color of your car... fight them to blend the paint not to just paint the parts seperate.

This is how I understand it. If someone hits you (you're not at fault) their insurance company is required to return your vehicle to the condition it was in prior to the accident.
If you are at fault then they are only required to return it to the state in which it was insured, meaning if they don't know about it...it isn't covered.

I work for an insurance company. Typically, unless you buy the excess premium covg, A/M parts will be only covered up to $1K unless you are a claimant and not at fault. Sounds like you are, so they would owe to restore you to pre-loss condition.

$1K total, that's with your own insurance company, typically. so if you rear end somebody and you screw up your JWT, your V9040404R34 Body kit or whatever and your turbo and you don't have that protection, have fun going back to OEM unless you pay the diff. And they can't force you to do anything, if you were smart you would take the check anyways before your car is worked on and do what YOU want to it. Insurance company pays the mark up prices that shops charge
