Question Hotchkis Tvs 1 = bad tire wear.

Ever since the hotchkis has been installed-my rear tires wear on the inside bald in less than 10k and i have 7sec left on the outside
i had an alignment but it still isnt rigt, the camber looks insane in the back-am i in need of a camber kit?Or is there a alignment shop that would be better with lowerd vehicles.

What were your alignment specs and when did you have it done? My rear camber goes around .2 through.4 more negative every 1-2 years.

A lot of shops love to 'set the toe and let it go', it is the lazy way to do it. Have your alignment rechecked and ask to see the specs before they set it. Your camber can be adjusted in the rear, but not too much. My Stechs had my old shop max out the rear camber it get it in, and i only dropped half an inch.

I avoid the dealer like the plague, having worked at one, if your lowered even .1" the tech will use it as an excuse for an inaqeduate alignment and bend you over for $100.

Ive gone to Goodyear shops where Ive heard of/known the guy doing the alignment. ALWAYS get a printout, and check the work. Sounds like somebody didnt do much on the alignment and you didnt know any better to check/ask. There is not much rear camber/toe adjustment from the factory.

What UMW said is also true, while bad toe will wear/damage (feather) your tires much faster than bad camber, if toe is good and camber is off it will still kill your tires. Ive driven over 1 hour to PTuning for an alignment to me its something that is worth a 2 hour drive...to be safe pick up some camber arms/toe bolts from PTuning or iapdirect.com have it installed and re-align your car.

I have also heard PTuning does a great job . It has a good setup for alignments on lowered cars, a drive-over instead of a drive-on rack, if that makes sense. Don't ask MDracer about them though

I had a dream last night my alignment was off and wore out my tires real bad. I think it was after I saw the pictures of what mike did with the tires while driftin.
Eitherway at the end of my nightmare I ended up payin $800 for new rear tires and I was so blown away.

Moral of the story: If your car is lowered, get frequent alignment checks. At least twice a year.
