I love main. Allot faster of a track, but the circuit that the event is on is a much more technical course, not as high speed.. but just as fun.

What's involved in passing tech? I'm worried they'd question my sideskirts.

Actually, this is tempting because most people work Mondays.

Haha, why would they question your side skirts? Are they falling off or something?

Thanks Mike My car is still pretty new, so all my stuff is good to go. Now, because my car is new and no where near paid off, would this track day be a big risk to messing my car up? Does **** get crazy out there, or is it a learning "go at your own pace" environment?

Your not going to be "door to door" , but you are going to want to push it around the track . Its more instructional, and don't be too proud to stick your arm out the window to let someone pass. (vette guys are notorious for NOT doing this ---harr harr Josh!)

You may want to check your ins. policy and see if they cover "driving schools" Worst case scenario is, you wrap up the car, they cover it, but then drop you.

Better off not letting your insrurance know, because they will probably drop you. Unless you paying alot of $$$ for track insurance, your not gonna be covered. You are more likely to get in a wreck on the way to the track than at it.

It may sound strange to most but Brett's right.

Well, I was going to go, but just heard back that they don't think the stock roll hoops on the Roadster are sufficient...

Who did you hear this from? Stock S2000's are out there quite often. Matter of fact there are quite a few that will be in attendance this event that do not have any additional roll-over protection.

I heard from the CDC HPDE organizer. He's been looking and hasn't found any info regarding the roll over protection of the factory roll hoops, and found something that sounded like Nissan was saying they are not designed to afford roll over protection.

I was surprised, since I saw so many S2000's signed up.

About helmets:

"On further review, Capital Driving Club and NERD Racing have decided that Snell M 2000 helmets (or newer) satisfy the minimum standards required for this type of event. An increasingly large number of HPDE Organizations are allowing Snell M 2000 (or newer) helmets so CDC and NERD Racing will allow this type of helmet for the April HPDE event. Our top recommendation continues to be a Snell SA 2000 helmet with it's higher standards for multiple impact protection and flame resistance but the Snell M 2000 helmet is sufficient for this type of event.

Is this HDPE count towards NASA by any chance Josh?

I am wondering about body kits are they okay? What about that the fact that I am rolling on 20's, not exactly tracks wheels.

Let me know. I only have a motorcycle helmet, do you think I can get away with it?

Is the registration still open?

Well, hope the guys that attended this event had fun. Anyone aware of any such events in the near future? I checked the Capital Driving website and looks like most of the events are now 'closed'.

Let me know if you guys know of any other auto clubs for HPDE. I'd like to get a 'day-pass' with an instructor in the car - to understand the basics of auto-crossing. (Sorta like auto-crossing for nubes.)

Thanks!

The CDC schedule is misleading. Events do not open until two weeks before the event. If you are new to autocross, go to test-and-tune. Its a fun no-competition day. You can ask for a ride along with an experienced racer. Or just do it yourself. No one cares if you run a 50 second course in 100 seconds. That's what practice is for.

If you like HPDE at Summit Point, you can always sign up for Friday at the Track.

Try trackdaze.com -- they will be at Summit Point this weekend and later in the year along with VIR. I also instruct for them.
