OFFTOPIC. Mikes Lucky Picture of the month.
So, a few weeks ago my Pops and I went to see the Caps post an a$$ whoopin' on Boston. I decided to whip out the old SLR and my big gun zoom lens 
Took these shots.....
Nothing but net.....

Love my SLR, and cheap glass. I can't wait to actually buy some good lenses!

Nice pics - What lens(es) were you using? The EXIF data did not show the model(s) other than focal length.
I use any of these three for youth soccer - 70-200 F4L, 100-300 F4 EX Sigma, and 300 F4L IS. I have had F2.8 lenses but sold them in favor of a compromise between speed and size, not that the 300s on a 1D is anything portable and inconspicuous. They are HUGE on my XTi.

I am using a 75~300.. but no IS.. its a quantaray. Cheap glass.
I want to replace my walk-around lens first, which is the kit lens... and then step into something with IS later (70~300). So expensive.

Try the 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L IS USM Lens. It is a beast but the range is good. On an 1.6xFOV body, the range is like 45-480! Not much on the wide but killer on the long. It is more reasonable on a 1.3xFOV body like the 1D.
My wife uses the 17-85 IS and I use the 24-105 F4L IS as the walk arounds.
