So far on my list:

1 Deer
1 Fox
2 Cats
1 Dog
~3 squirrels
1 bird

Only thing I hit that really did some damage was the Deer. I rather kill animals than make a mistake and put my life or others on the road danger. There are plenty of animals out there so I dont mind. They are God's given gift for us to eat anyway

omg gooey you need a brush guard or a plow or something.. I ran over a squirrels tail one time and saw him jumping really high in my rear view mirror. I'm not gonna swerve for a bird, or a squirrel, or a rabbit... pretty much small critters less than 5 lbs... i'll even hit a deer because there are too many of them... i might hit a cat depending on what kindof mood i'm in, But i would definately crash trying to avoid a dog.

Squirrel = run over. Moose = swerve.

There's a crossover point somewhere between the two.

My good friends father was killed in a crash swerving to avoid an obstacle in the road. I remember it well and the state trooper said the rule of thumb is:

If it's smaller than you hit it. If it's bigger swerve.

I got out and talked to the guy when I drove back by. My camera died on me . I gave him my email address, so if he wants to email me some pics, he can.

I swerve to a point, the point of damging the car or endangering others. I sleep better at night. Just something nasty about looking in the rear view and seeing the tail twitching in the air.

Driving into a ditch or the hit the squirrel, driving into a ditch or hit the squirrel. My vote is ROADKILL for the squirrel.

There were pics on here a year or two ago of someone hitting a deer; the blood and guts got caught up by the huge lip of his rims, a nice misty coating of entrails

I vote hit. Be forewarned though: raccoons have the potential of dealing your car some major damage. Back in Wisconsin I saw 2 or 3 cars totaled by those guy. Not sure how, but yeah...

If I can, I definitely try to avoid it. I love animals.
