SUMMIT POINT — A New Hampshire teenager involved in a motorcycle crash at Summit Point Raceway died Monday morning after suffering severe head and neck injuries, according to police.
The 13-year-old boy’s name was not released Monday by the Charles Town Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, which responded to the accident at about 10:40 a.m. Monday, according to a news release.
The teen was from Londonderry, N.H., and was driving a motorcycle in a race when a driver in front of him lost control because of mechanical difficulties, according to police.
The victim’s motorcycle struck the back of the first motorcycle, and both drivers were ejected onto the track.
A third motorcycle driver struck the 13-year-old at a high rate of speed, causing “massive head and neck trauma,” according to the news release.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.
Troopers D.R. Underwood, J.M. Bush, J.A. Meeks and M.T. Schul of the State Police responded to the accident, along with emergency medical personnel who were already present.
The raceway has an ambulance on site during all races, according to Jefferson County’s 911 center.

were they racing at the summit track, or the kidney track near the back (don't know the name)? surprised it's a full competition race at 13. would think it was more of the 'no passing' dealie, and the accident sounded like a huge cluster****... and possibly the dude that ran over his neck was not obeying flag control...
and if they didn't flag the race correctly... bad news for them. any time someone goes down and is laying on track that is a serious red flag...
