Default alright im getting pissed.

okay so i just put test pipes on my car recently. and now i get this high pitched hiss after i let off..

ive taken my exhaust on and off about 5 times now.. ive used RTV and other compounds along with fresh gaskets..

me and my other tech have narrowed it down to a weird rattle sound comming from the testpipe area on the drivers side when we hit it with our hand...

anyone know anything about this? or anyone have this problem before?

If they are non-resonated test pipes, this is normal. It makes this sound on mine and every other TPs I've heard on Zs.

Can you use the trick like what people do to tires? Like spray some soup water on the whole exhaust and see where it's leaking air?

Soapy water works when I tried stuff like that for leaking tires.

I have strup test pipes, if they hiss after you let off the gas I haven't noticed. (the blow off valve covers it up)

if they are non resenated they have a baffle kind of thing in them and they make the noise if you want to stop the sound you have to cut it in half and pull it out its not welded or anything it just sits in there i had the same problem

If you want shinny, you can take my resonated test pipes and put them on your car to see if that'd get rid of the hissing. We can do it when I swing by to put on the supercharger belt this week.

Soupy water won't work on an exhaust as the heated metal will evaporate the water too quickly. Perhaps a laser thermometer might work?

You can try every solution possible but it will not eliminate the noise. Test pipes make a variety of noises from hiss to tweeting like bird.
