Default Rev Limiter at 2500?!?

So after the cruise yesterday my brother drove my car with me in it and it started to hit the rev limiter at 2500, I was pretty shocked, so I told him to turn it off and back on and still same deal. We were only a few blocks from the house so we make it home and I try it with my key, he has the valet set i think since it doesnt open thye glove box. It worked fine for me. Took it to the stealership this morning and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Help?

Sounds like your car was in limp mode ... this happens with Mercedes sometimes... if the engine detects a malfunction it will cut power and limit it's performance to prevent further damage. Could have been a glitch

Valet key doesn't allow you to go above certain rpm or speed. Thats all I can think of.

you drive a 07 NISMO...they dont think anyone would ever let a valet guy drive it so that feature isnt on yours....lol

Someone find out if the valet key has a limiter...for sure or not ....thats hot. Wonder if I can upgrade my G to have that. Valet guys are allways trying to rev my shizzil "on accident" in DC.

Sounds like a mass air issue to me. I had a 02 Altima 3.5SE and they would do the same thing. Dirt/oil/other debris can get caught in there and make the car go into limp mode. It might be worth taking a look at. Back in the day we would clean them off with electrical parts cleaner and it seemed to do the trick.
