Default A small question on tires...

I was hesitant to post but **** i need to put this out there...
Since the weather is finally getting nice [except for Sunday] I decided that March will be the month to put my new wheels on. A Mr.Tire just opened on Rt.1 and they're open on Sundays so I figured I wouldn't have to take a day off just to get my wheels on. I run up there this past Sunday [before the flurries came] and asked how much a set of 19's would cost and whether or not they had some in stock. First I get the "Are you sure you have proper clearance for those?" then I get the "I don't really know much about those cars, but {forgot his name} does, talk to him". {forgot his name} comes over and basically tells me 19s are special order only and he knows a guy that knows another guy that "might" be able to get me some tires.

I know most of you are sitting on tires/wheels that are obviously not stockers so WHERE IN MD CAN I GET A DECENT SET OF 19 INCH WHEELS FOR NO HASSLE? I could see if I'd walked in and asked for a 1/4 pounder with cheese, but I went to frickin tire place that doesn't carry tires and treated me kinda chitty when I asked some basic questions. Any help from the Mid-A would be greatly appreciated...

+1 on TR - they have a wharehouse in DE, 90% of time stuff is in stock and at your door in 2 days.

I always order from them, I get tires at cost because my friend owns YOWS

Do I actually have to order my own tires and drive them plus the wheels to a shop, and then have them installed?

Or can I have them shipped directly to the installer??

www.edgeracing.com

you wont find them cheaper anywhere!

I can get 295/25/21 inchers way less than Tire Rack... but it all depends on size...

also try www.discountdirect.com

Also the factory tire size is 225/40/19F and 245/40/19R (at least on a G35)

you can run a 235/35/19F and a 255/35/19R if want a bit more grip.

but as far as I know the factory tire sizes are a dime a dozen, they are trying to rip you off.

once you get your tires...

call American Lube (703-533-0400), there are near 7 corners just west on 50 (service road...look for BB&T bank)
Ask for
Jonathan owners son
Chris my mechanic
Julio owner

they can mount and balance for dirt cheap... tell them Corey (Gzilla sent you) as soon as they answer the phone...(wink)

let me know if you need any more help.

You can have them shipped there if they are registered with them.

Berto,

what size would you recommend for some reliable A/S fronts and rears for a 19 8.5 x 19 9.5 wheel?

A brick and mortar store for wheels? Forget it. Order online.

I got wheels and tires from TireRack.

The usual 245/275 35 combo

Nice fit, not a lot of stretch or pudge.

Thanks guys! I take my old Corrolla pretty much anywhere for maintenance and after making the mistake of buying Z tires at Pep Boys [they put them on backwards] I was getting kind of scared now that I'm moving up to my first set of aftermarket wheels.

Falken 452's.
Tires are the shiz nit..

edgeracing.com cheap and fast shipping...
if your running your Z. I went with 235/35/19 and 275/35/19
With my suspension I want a taller tire so will try and go with 275/40 or 285/40 in the rear if I can find em.

Tirerack is expensive as chit compared to edge btw way. A few clicks of the mouse will prove that.

Funny. I tried doing a search using an edge link and it kicked me out so I went to Tire Rack and one of their "consultants" is supposed to be calling me back this week.

fk452's are okay for a cheap street tire.

if i wanted a cheap street tire i rather go with the sumitomo HTRZIII.

but honestly... falken azenis rt615 FTMFW.

i went with 255/40/18 front. and 275/35/18 rear.

i went with the bigger fronts to kill some of my understeer. which is has and i love it now. cant wait for AUTO X season to start up again with teh BMW club.

^^ FUGK looks like I am back to paying 400 per rear tire again...they have been hit with the economy... I guess they were the cheapest and didnt make any profits...

Get some BF Goodrich KDW2s man. I track my car and daily drive it like I stole it. They perform great and last a very long time.

KDW lasted me 15K in the rear, keep in mind laying patches of rubber in 2nd and 3rd gear is a lot worse than 1st gear. Best overall tire IMO, Ive had 6 sets in the rear...
