I saw somewhere that there was a recall on this HU. I saw it for about $1000 on pricegrabber or some site like that. I know that crutchfield states whether or not that its a refurbished unit but the others dont. My question is, is it worth the $$$ to buy from a site like that or should I stick to crutchfield knowing for sure that the HU is new? Also, is it worth it to buy the "extended service plan" or does the manufacturer service plan cover anything that would go wrong w/ it?

The recall that I'm aware of was on the initial release of the unit last year. I can't remember what the issue was, but they had to send them all back to have an update done to them. The manufacturer's warranty is for two years and I think you can purchase the extended plan at any time, so if you decided later that you wanted the warranty, you could still purchase it.
