Smog stations do a "safety check" with the mirrors, It's to make sure it's safe to test the car, my guess is their insurance stations make them do it. 10-15 years ago they might have checked for cats but now they dont.

Why not? well because on cars like the 98 Honda civic LX its attached to the manifold and located front in font of the engine. On the Z its tucked up beside the transmission. Many new cars have them in weird spots that in many cases you cant see.

As to a police officer saying he'll tow you. I'd call his bluff.

Anyone else remember the issues the EVO guys had with the rear wings when they first came out? I'm guessing after having a judge lay into the officers for wasting everyones time they no longer assume they know what they're talking about.

Believe it or not most police officers have nothing more then a basic level of knowledge of cars. For one of them to say you have no cats, tow your car, get a court date then go to court only to find out he was wrong....... Yeah, that's not going to happen. It would be better to ticket someone with a no points ticket like too loud of exhaust, the chances of someone showing up at court and having a legit case to fight it, is pretty low. its a win win for the state.

A major issue like having a car towed. I'd lay into the state if they were wrong, lets not forget about that new damage caused by towing it and lost work from not having a car. Just because Mr police officer thought he knew what a cat was.

But even with an exhaust ticket you can take that to court... the have to have a DB reader.. they are not carried in an everyday cop car.. i work on base and am pretty good friends with a MP and he told me all about that chit.. even with tint.. they must have a UV reader.. if you get a ticket just goto court they have nothing to prove it to the judge that it was for sure illegal

If a police officer wanted to he could write you up for wrong exhaust. You would have to prove that it's within OEM specs or have to remove it and get it signed off on lol.

Maryland = ZERO modding

thank god no one cares and everything is over looked.

The problem is, everything is based off of GM cars. I have worked on foreign cars since I got out of school, and have a little bit of experience with domestics, but not enough. Plus the questions are purposely worded to throw you off. So I should see some test results in 3-4 weeks.

A.S.E. suck!!! the 2 last night ended up being about 120 questions all together, the tests vary. The only way to pass is try, I hope you better at tests than I am. If you decide to, Let me know. I can lend you my study books.

Now I am going for my Maryland state inspectors liscense. After that I will continue my A.S.E. to get Master certified

I have to fight a ticket for that soon. I will rape that cop. She was a bi-otch cause I've beaten her in court before

btw, you don't have to prove your innocence, they have to prove your guilty. Remember, Innocent until proven guilty
