Moving to Virginia
Two questions as I'm going to be moving to Virginia Beach in about 4 months. How bad is the "luxury" tax on the 350Z and I have a question about the yearly inspections.... I know they don't do emissions but do they check to see if you have test pipes? I'm mildly modded with an intake duct, md spacer, JWT pop charger, test pipes and a single exhaust.. would I have problems with this or should I not worry? Thanks for any advice ya'll can give me.

The personal property tax is $3.70 per $100. We also get a personal property tax relief applied. The amount of the relief is large and often cuts your bill in half if not more. I am unsure how the relief amount is calculated.
You're going to be taking a gamble with the test pipes. I'm sure when you get here someone might be able to point you to some places that may be more favorable to your mods.

It's based on something similar to the KBB. Luckily for me they assume I drive my Z 12,000 miles a year. So they "think" I have close to 50,000 miles when it's close to half that.
Also, I had my emissions taken with test pipes and passed. I've also had few safety inspections and passed.

Yo... before this goes too far.
look at this from the OPs perspective. He is new and concerned about getting the car legal.
OP look at it from CASS's perspective, he did welcome you and gave you a list of how we all roll.
Now yes Cass was off topic, but nonetheless he was being helpful to you as a new comer.
You are asking questions from the MidAtlantic Region which Cass is a big part of. Although he was off topic, messing with him is like messing with about **edit**500 of us man.
I think you both should apologize and play cool..let this one slide. OP I am not at all threatening you, but the MidAtlantic is a big family and we all know one another very well. Its not like some random forum... most of us have been to at least 50% of the other forum members homes so please tread lightly when you dont know anyone.
I am from the Midwest so I know you can man up and say sorry for jumping the gun on Cass. He didnt mean any harm to your thread. It was actually funny, but if you are not one of us then I guess maybe not.
So if you want help from the MidA you have to be one of us man. We dont dog one another over here. If Cass had too many to drink he can call me and I would go get him. wife and crying baby complaining and all. ITs that tight of a group here.
be careful man.... from one fellow midwesterner to another.
back on topic....the DMV will prorate your car like Dutch said. VA does not have ANY sniffer test at all anymore (they did before, not now). Its a simple DBD2 scan. If you had a check engine light on for LESS THAN 75 miles you will fail the port scan.
so with my TP I reset the light (if I have one) drive for about 100 miles on the highway... go to my local friendly safety inspection and walk out with a new sticker.
Again welcome to the MIDA... we are a passionate group.
