Default Moving to DC, looking for SC or ST install in November.

I'm moving from Hawaii to DC in October, just wanted to see what's going on over there before I get there. I was in Boston for a few years, so it's back to the east coast. Plus, as I said above, I'll be looking for a new or used Vortech V3 or TN ST to install in the Nov time frame!

Thanks,

Andy

Install a Turbonetics w/o a built motor = Kaboom for most people, so I wouldn't suggest that. I really don't like to see people in Mid-A down for half a year or longer.

Vortech SC has a pulley issue
ATI Prochargers have belt issues
Stillen superchargers are awesome but lack power
HKS Superchargers are the best, but too expensive

And if you install a supercharger, you're going to wish you had turbo. Most supercharged guys go turbo in a year or two, so just skip this step altogether and save some money for twin turbos... which is the only way to go, because 500HP is average around these parts.

superchargedg; thanks for the comment, I'll def check them out.

abui01; wow, so save for the twins and built motor huh? I guess I'll just do some NOS while I wait to save up $15K, lol.

jeffie7; so no problem here... can I use your garage, lol.

All, thanks for the replies, I just wanted to test the water so to speak, see what's goin on over there. By the looks of it, Mid-A is the busiest region on this forum, that's gonna be different from the limited amout of Z's and G's isolated to and island here. Plus the ability to drive in a straight line for longer that 2 miles is gonna be nice again.

Go turbo over SC and you wont regret it. I'm sure Jeffie will agree, for ST - POWERLAB all the way! Hit me up if you need anything - we're in Maryland right outside of D.C.

Good luck with the move!

Okay, so where's the best deal on a TT set up?

I of course have wanted twins since I got the car 4 and a half years ago, but money has always been a concern. Now I'm buying a house, so I just wanted to at least get into the FI club a little. Maybe I could find a used Greddy kit or something, and work from there?

Buy a used kit ONLY IF the guy is willing to uninstall the kit right then and there and both of you swap parts on the spot. Otherwise, you're going to run into a billion of missing items and it's a big headache getting everything. Other than that, I suggest buying it new.

Have you done research on what TT kit you like best? What are your goals?

Frank Hill at Hill's Garage in Baltimore. He's a great guy, knows his forced induction, really honest so tells you what works and what does not, reasonable and stands behind his work 100% plus (and here's the best part) he's a certified Nissan Master Mechanic.
