i dont wanna put any names out there to avoid any further neg comments from other ppl towards this guy, but the shop is in dulles VA if that helps(ya crazy, u wouldnt have thought), the guy i talked to is a real good guy, i just think that him knowing its my first time gettin this done he can get me good for it, idk it just seemed outrageous for it, as far as the osiris goes, a good friend with the same thing install+tune paid lil over 700 which i think is about right, but the utec, i think it just crazy @ over 1700, im just glad im not one of them, "holy crap, really, rrrrr oook go ahead" types and start throwin money out lol
either way i look at it, i need some opinions, utec or osiris??, ive heard good AND bad things about both, whats better?, or who likes what better and why??? just wanna make sure im gettin the best within my budget for my car
Wow 4 post counts and called out some tuner from Dulles, VA quoting you ridiculously on Osiris AND UTEC? Something sounds very fishy here. Even though you didn't put out names but your action already told us you're trying to do something here. Stop creating drama whoever you are. We ALL know your intention. If you truly don't want to call anyone out, why even bothered to mention Dulles, VA?
And you already called Dave from Function:Tuned out in another thread.

I hope you know Dave is known as one of the most honest tuners here on the board. Your little drama won't do shxt. Mind taking a picture of yourself holding up a note with your forum name on it?

Agreed, Dave just looks at Drama and smiles about it since he already has defined his character by going way over board with customers. He didn't quote you a rediculous price, you are paying for the knowledge and quality and craftsmanship, why not get a better job so you don't have to be poor bro?

Could it be you asked the wrong questions and didnt give the appropriate amount of information for dave to make a realistic quote? I dunno how long have you been FI?

I'll break it down for you cause I think that's where the confusion is.
Osirus
- $395 Flash
- $595 FI Tuning
- $224 Upgraded MAF
- $79 Install MAF
Utec
- $1049 UTEC
- $119 Map Sensor
- $595 Tuning
- $158 Install UTEC and Map Sensor
Regularly the UTEC is $2000 Installed and Tuned. We discount the UTEC to $1750 installed and tuned. I do have a used UTEC and MAP sensor here. I'd have to speak with the customer about what he wants for it but that would save you some money. It would have to be picked up pretty much immediately though.

ok before this gets shut down for turning ridiculous you may want to consider:
Going to "the shop in dulles that a guy named Dave runs" and talking face to face and either
A) Showing him exactly what you want done
B) Have him show you why it costs that much (ie see what you are getting for your money)
C) Maybe ask why you can get it cheaper somewhere else.
You are the consumer man do some leg work. There is a lot of horse power generated from this shop and not very much negative. Yes this shop may cost more but its guaranteed to be ecxactly the way you want it. I dunno. I still think there is miscommunication that can be solved by you taking a drive to Dulles and see where/why you are spending any money at all. 800 or 1700
And if this is not an option just go to $800 shop and make a post saying
"I got my tune for 800.... this is a good shop....."
It may go over a little better.

first of all since u wanna be n azz about this, i asked for help not an ***, i kno dave he is a cool guy so its nothin against him, im just surprised by his quote. As for the post in the other thread, those r all my friends in there so its not like im just out here callin ppl out. And just cuz i dont spend all my time in the forum with only "4 posts" dont mean im new or dont know what im doin, ive had my Z 2yrs and have since way before then been part of projects on other Z's to inlude a 9sec 300z, so u can toss ur atttude out the window or keep ur 0.02 worth to urself, i asked for help with this and would like sum opinions, not a bunch of criticism or bs
the simple answer is you just have to call around and be specific with the person you are talking to about what you have in the car and what you need done.
Its up to you to decide if you are getting ripped off or not. 5-700$ is pretty standard for just a dyno tune.
