Quit guessing. Use a tire size calculator like this one:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Then you will know how much your speedo will be off and the percent difference if you move from stock size.

Wayyyy back in the day I did 245/40 front, 265/40 rear IIRC
Look at KDW's best tire IMO for overall grip AND longevity for the $$$, somewhat noisy later in life if that maters to you.

Yeah I can live with the noise i guess. I mean ive been living with it so far. I guess I can keep searching a little more.
