Just got re-tuned(warning: subaru content)
So I went to get a re-tune yesterday and I ended up with some pretty decent numbers for low boost. I told them just to do a safe tune on lower boost with it getting colder and everything. I put my original dyno plot from my original tune at the bottom of this post so you can see the difference. I think the fmic helped with holding top end power a lil better. Also you can see the dip in my re-tune plot where my wastgate was acting up a lil. You cant really feel it at all when driving.
Facility: AMS of Gaithersburg MD
Type of Dyno: DYNOmite?
Baseline # for a stocker at the dyno: ??
Boost: 16 psi
Fuel: 93 octane(Shell)
Target AFR: 11.78
SAE Corrections:
Peak HP at RPM: 324.6@5500
Peak Torque at RPM: 347.4@3800
Mods:
-Invidia N1 Race Exhaust
-Invidia V2 Bellmouth Catless Dp
-K&n Short Ram Intake
-Hallman MBC
-Walbro 255
-CSS Fmic
My old tune with just the Tbe, mbc and intake at around 21 psi.

I used to be sponsored from CSS. I know the owner and he had like 30 some kits on him when I got mine but he does sell out fast usually when he gets a shipment. It is almost identical to the turbo xs fmic kit and Im not sure on the weight difference but the kit is good imo and for the price you cant beat it.

yeah I know the old tune sucked in the upper rpms but had monster tq which powered out of turns like crazy. I do like how the new tune has more hp in the upper rpms and at much lower boost. It should be better for the drag strip so we'll see what she does next year. Im shootin for 12.3-12.5 this time

Ahhh ok. How much does your intercooler weigh? I was actually looking at CSS intercoolers until i asked andrewtech and they said they're basically knockoffs of the turboxs and weigh alot more.
How reliable was your old tune? You had lots of power in the low rpm range but basically had none after 5k.

Well i'm not too sure about the weight of the kit but it didn't seem extremely heavy or anything. I wouldn't call it a knock off as the quality of kit is very nice. Its more like a more affordable version of the turbo xs.
Id say the old tune was pretty reliable. I mean I never broke anything. The wastegate acting up in the new tune could be a result of running 21 psi for so long but who knows.

So you lost 40+ft/lbs of TQ and gained 6whp?
Your power curve looks slightly better now but I dunno about that being cost effective.
Your old tune at 18-19psi would have had slightly lower numbers with a better TQ curve.

Yeah original tune was 21 psi so considering this is 16 psi and a more conservative tune I was pretty happy. Once the weather warms up a bit i'll go in for a quick re-tune on high boost and see what it does.

FMIC cost + retune cost for what you got is so so IMO, but its not my car.
Your turbo will last longer this way at least, not pushing it to its peak on spike in the midrange. That is without a doubt a good thing.
