How did a thread about a good experience with a car shop turn into discussion on Pho and Chinese? LOL...

BTW Pho Hot in Annandale FTW! Chinese in general FTW!

They actually worked on my Z on a few small things when I used to live down in Baltimore. A bunch of my 240 friends go there to get work done as well. The owner James used to be an engineer for a professional racing team. Unlike many other shop owners, James is well educated, doesn't do drugs or even smoke cigarette!! I don't know if that matters.. but somehow that matters a lot to me cuz that sets him apart from the typical uneducated car scene that I'm familiar with. On top of that James and his guys drift and do time attack on a pretty regular basis. Corey got his car tuned there btw.
Would you go back Ethan? I remember seeing JE come up a lot a few years ago especially with the RB swaps/custom fab on both the 240 platform as well as the 350s with positive reviews. I'm actually glad to hear that the owner is drug free assuming he's not an alchoholic lol...hearing that the owner is educated/smart is a plus as well, so he may see that getting a few extra bucks out of you/not taking care of your car may cost him a lot more in the long run. Example: Owner tries to get customer for an extra thousand or so, but the customer realizes this so customer takes his/her F/I install and friends elsewhere because customer now sees that the owner is cheating them.

You don't have to be an astute business man but I swear some of the shop owners make bad business decisions in that manner as well as in their actual business plans which IMO can cause an owner to flex on morality(find ways to charge the sh*t out of you/rip you off). In this economy I am also going to take business decisions more closely in mind since most shops are LLCs and poor decisions can lead to shops closing and my money going down with it.

JE Import did the tune on GZILLA...infact all the tunes on GZILLA....never had a bill that wasnt justified or over charged.

I am picky so only James touches my whip...I will wait 3 weeks for an appointment if I have to...but once the new gear comes in ... G ZILLA will be at Hills Garage or FT for the Master Tune!

That's what's up in regards to JE...you would pick Hills over JE though? If I may ask for reasons. You can PM me if you prefer.

no need to PM. I have nothing but great things to say about both shops. If have to pick today JE because they tuned my car from day one.

But after Hill does my new work I will have them do it... not that James and I havent sat down for many months trying to figure out a something unique like you all know I like to do.

James at JE has bent over backwards to accomodate my budget and time constraints..I live and work near the mixing bowl and they are in Baltimore....so he schedule my time so that its less time I have to take off work.

I just know Frank on a more personal level and we are business partners that co-promote/help one another, but once Assassin Industries sponsors thier (JE Import Performance's) drift team, I am sure I will get to know James a bit more and have a more than personal relationship with him.

Now if you ask me who is more talented...thats hard because Frank is a NISSAN guru, and James and JE does more than NISSANs..not that frank does not do other cars too but JE has more experience with builds outside the NISSAN platform... but dont forget that RB26 swaps they did and the 310RWHP NA whip they did, etc.

Since this is all VQ, I will make a simple guess that Frank might maybe if he is lucky have a VERY VERY SMALL SLIGHT EDGE of JE in the VQ house.... but then again I dont know for sure.

I personally would trust either with my projects.. I think cost is the edge that Frank and I have worked out that due to other business activities but JE has been by far the more affordable... (see other thread by fireboy about this statement) and I also gave him some extra cash after he worked his azz off on my car and the bill was dramatically lower than I expected.

Again we are greatful for all the shops and experience we have...

from FTs 500hp na and the boost AWD z to JE's V8 350 and RB swaps, to franks untouched attention to detail, to the outstanding parts at AAM and 500RWHP TTs, to Elites great customer service.

we cant go wrong...

things will happen, you wont get cheese on your cheeseburger at McDeez, however we will return to fight another day... all shops have had mishaps...ARE YOU PERFECT?

I support all MIDA SHOPS... and I appreciate all for what they individually bring to the table.
