Default stock pressure plate w/ aftermarket clutch disk?

I've been noticing that my clutch is starting to not fully engage/ engage later. Its not a huge problem, I've learned to adjust to it, but just in case it becomes worse...Heres my question...

Is it possible to use the stock pressure plate w/ a better clutch disc? For example, the stock pressure plate w/ carbon-kevlar clutch disc (eq. Spec Stage 2 or Stage 2+ clutch disc) or even an exedy OEM replacement clutch or something similar?

I don't see why not but most clutch kits come with the pressure plate I think. If you're running high HP I'd get a new pressure plate since they can explode and take off limbs.

well upgrading clutch meaning that it can withstand more power but then keeping the stock pressure plate so later on the road it can take a poop....just get a whole kit.

Don't be fooled by the marketing lingo. "Carbon Kevlar" is a stock style lining.
Organic=Carbon
Kevlar=the weave in the "Carbon" (organic) lining

A higher end "Premium organic" lining will have a high metal weave content for higher TQ holding and better heat dissipation.

You should replace the entire clutch kit, Release bearing, Pilot bushing and resurface or replace the flywheel.

While you have the transmission dropped, I'd just go ahead and install the new pressure plate and drop the flywheel and put in a lightweight one. Flywheel is kind of like a car rotor. It'll wear down and need replaced or resurfaced.

Replace the flywheel so you can decrease the time it takes to heel-toe upon corner entry. It's already out, might as well do both.

yea true...

It was explained to me once however, that keeping the stock flywheel might be better then a lighter flywheel because they can hand more abuse...such as a clutch kick or two

I'm looking @ the Exedy clutch...no clue about which flywheel to match it with...

In the long run you will be better off with a one piece flywheel, The stock 2 piece, dual mass flywheel tends to ware out about the same time as the first clutch.
