Default Newbie!

Hi All!

I just purchased a 2005 white touring last night. 6 speed.

The car is in AWESOME shape but if i may, i do have a few questions.

I've searched a lot on google and it kept bringing me to MY350Z.com so I figured i'd just sign up.

First, the knocking/rattling noise at idle until you press the clutch... SCARED the crap out of me when i got home. I thought my engine was knocking but when i pressed in the clutch.. it went away.. Search showed me that this is normal? and it may be the throwout bearing?! I'm not used to this..

2nd, at low speeds it sounds like the brakes are touching the disks for some reason.. why i don't know.. didnt do too much of a search on this though.

3rd, i've got the clicking issue so I assume i need to replace the axle nut?.. its on the right rear btw.. but I should probably do both sides lol

4th, i've got the tire psi light on and when you drive the car beeps at me with 3 long beeps i believe.. So it's true i have to go to the dealer to get it reset? or is there a way of doing it. I searched on here and it appears that i need to go to the dealer.

FINALLY... This is just odd.. These cars seem to have a lot of drivetrain noise and clunkiness to them. When i'm driving just say at 40mph or so.. and i'm in 5th gear cruisin around, when i start to accelerate, the rear end makes this loud rumble noise but starts to go away when i go faster.. OR..if i just downshift to 3rd and stay higher in RPMS, its not there, or not so apparent.

Could anyone help me? I'm so not used to these cars lol.. I have a turbo s2000 which i'm used to and a 2002 maxima auto that i'm selling since i got this My wifey just purchased a 2008 g37S red on black.. beautiful cars...

Thanks all!

Allan

Welcome. Sounds like you need to take that car to a mechanic.

Oh and the tire pressure light beeps when.... Wait for it... You need air in tires. Check the PSI and fill em up to 35lbs.

lol. when i first purchased the car.. I asked them if i just filled up the tires, would the light and sound just go away.. they said no.. even if you filled the tires, it would still stay on and i would need to go to the dealer.... how true this is? i don't know.

I'm going to take it to the dealer today to have it looked, but I wanted to search "which i did" and ask a few questions before i go in blindsided.

Does anyone have these issues as well?

I should call him. I have a 2002 maxima and hillsgarage is a big part of the maxima community.. Thanks!!!

EDIT: I just called Frank.. I'm going to see him today! he said he'll thoroughly inspect it and see whats up but didnt seem too concerned. And like everyone else said in the info i've been reading, the noise rattling is normal haha..."whew"

My light comes on after like a half hour but no beeps. I know one of the batteries is going dead in one of the TPS. I dont think it beeps if its just a TPS failure. Im pretty sure it only beeps if the psi is low.

my clutch rattles a bit too. Of course my tranny is shot

3rd synchro is gone. Cant shift quick into third without sounding like I murdered a bag full of baby gears. LOUD whine in all gears. Chatter knock rattle really loud when clutch isnt engaged. Upgrade to CD009 hopefully very soon.

The TPMS warning will go off after you fill them up. It may take a few miles of driving, but it will go away. Whoever told you this is misinformed. Unless it's the battery of course. Then they were right.

As far as the clutch noise, it's pretty common. It's not your throwout bearing. If it was the throwout bearing, you'd hear all kinds of racket when the clutch is depressed. Mine was screwed up and it sounded like all the demons in hell had possessed my clutch when I pushed in. The cluctch rattle is very common. Yours could, of course, be louder than is normal.

g/l with it and congrats on the purchase. I had an '05.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome!

Yea it's not very loud. I didnt even notice it til got home.. and even then i had to just keep feathering the throttle and pushing the clutch to get it to go away or hear it.

So this TPMS thing.. I'll fill up the tires today at 35. But how do i replace the battery? even yet, if i upgraded rims, can i just swap rims? or do i have to do something fancy with the new rims to make sure the tpms doesnt trigger?

Good....lord.....

how many miles do you have? Do you race a lot and dog on your car? Just wondering what would be a contributing factor...For example, the driver, or is it just another common problem..

The TPMS is basically the valve stem. If you look at the metal sleeve, you'll see a hexagonal head. If you unscrew that, the whole unit drops into the wheel. You can transfer that to new wheels. I'm not sure about the battery replacement as far as whether you can or not. I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is a button to the right side of the gauge pod that runs you through all of the computer settings. MPH, tire pressure, engine RPM, etc. It's great on the '05 because it actually registers the air pressure. It saved my butt a couple of times because I had hit some nails and had about 15 pounds of air in the bad tire.
