Registration for the first AutoX of the season closes today. AM is full but there are still spots in the PM session.

Don't be shy, come out, it's $35 for non-members. First timers (including myself) don't be shy, us super noobs need to stick together. I promise, you won't suck more than me. I am terrible at driving and my Z is probably the heaviest around.

Is this the DC region SCCA event? They used to run in the FedEx field parking lot. Did it change? SOLO is too high tech for me. Gotta' drive fast AND find those stupid cones AND figure out which way the course is going. It is cheap enough though and they are generally a good bunch of people.

 

^ nope. It's BMWCCA. Even though I plan on walking the course, i'll probably end up going the wrong way. $35, can't beat it!

 

Pics are up! The event was a blast. Although i came 3rd to last in my class, the whole experience really opened my eyes in terms of how my car reacts in tight situations. Granted, i didn't get out of 2nd gear, there was plenty of power to get into trouble.

I highly recommend coming out. Its a great way to enjoy the Z without worrying about other cars on the road, police, or losing your car on the track because some jerk decided to cut you off. Not to mention, it was cheap! $35 for 4 runs.

Clarkson may have gotten it wrong when he said "BMW are driven exclusively by *****" Most of the guys out there were very friendly and were willing to help.

There is an SCCA event this coming Sunday @ FedEX. Won't be making that one (plus, the big boys come out to play @ SCCA). Not sure if I'll be able to make it on the 17th either, but i'll definitely be attending the class on the 25th.

I was thinking of going to that one, but figured I would get my feet wet on the 17th. You should come out and watch.

 

^ Def ask some of the veterns for ride alongs. They also have a novice instructor that will ride along with you to help you around the track.

Watch? No thanks, if im going to drive a hour away, im going to be running the Z. My best time was a 52.xx last event. We should have a Mid-A baby competition. Maybe it'll help stimulate people to come out. I was the only Z at the first event (PM session). Looks like we have some more Zs this time around!

Remember to bring sun block and a lawn chair.

 

^Yeah I will definitely ask some of the vets for a ride along. You should come out. My friend is taking his e92 M3 as well. We are running the AM session if you change your mind and want to race. I'm looking forward to it.

 

AGREED!!! we should have an amateur day for all of us who have never done it.

Damn I didn't even know about that one.... I did make arrangements to rip my stock car stereo out and replace it all but I may have to put that on hold now.

 

Okay so who is all going to the 2nd event? I checked the driver list and I see 2 350z's including myself and 1 g35 sedan. The other cars that are running are an 09 subie wrx, and an 08 mazda speed 3. Let's get some more cars out here!
