Default Deep sea fishing

Anyone here ever take the Rudee Inlet Offshore 16 Hour Deep Drop Trips, the one that runs every Thursday in the summer to Norfolk Canyon, cost $170/pp; Any other charter suggestions; it's just me so no group charters.

I'm looking to catch sea bass, blue fish, tile fish, & grouper and just have fun.

I ask because I want to go but I don't want to get skunked! I did their $35/pp 1/2 day and it was basically a boat ride, 6-8" croaker. but I didn't expect much more than that it was kind of a feeler to see if I wanted to take it to the next level.

I don't think that's true "deep sea fishing". To go deep sea you have to get to the gulf stream which is about 50-60 miles off the coast in VA/NC area. Takes about 3-4 hours just to get to where you start fishing! You get in the gulf stream and you are talking Marlin, Wahoo, Dolphin, etc. I think what you are doing here is bottom fishing. Whatever it is, it will be better than a day at work.

I was in Nags Head last summer and going rate for a deep sea charter was $1800/6 people max.

Hopefully the oil won't be here by then!

+1 true deep sea fishing is in the canyons/an underwater ridge that runs along the atlantic coast with the gulf stream. Just drove my sportfish up from fl to avoid this damn oil and now the canyons are further away up here

but good luck op, hope you have a good time

Correction, this was the "12 HOUR OFFSHORE TRIP", 70 miles out in the canyon, 4 hours to get there, 5 1/2 hours fishing, and 4 hours back. My body still feels the waves sitting here. Had a good time, but no fish! Those that did catch something were for the most part seasoned fishermen, some with electric reels. Everyone had issues with tangling, I swear, that was the biggest problem of all! On the way back we stopped at 3-4 wrecks, 100' drops but only some sea base were caught. I think the biggest catch of the day was some sort of catfish(?), lots of reds.

would I do this again, no.
Why, too many people on one boat. Next trip will be on a private charter.
