Just visit Georgetown University for my sister then went to Chinatown in Washington. Man....it got to be the most getteo Chinatown ever!!! I came from Oakland so I know what getteo is. Now i am just looking for nice places to eat and sightseeing in Virgina and washington DC. Got any good suggestions? not clubbing or bar.

fogo de chao if you're into brazilian bbq. In Virginia if you head over by the tysons corner area there are a ton of good restaurants in and around the mall.

 

China Town in DC is like going to the SPCA and calling it a Zoo.

Last time I went to China Town the only Asians I saw outside of the Chinese in the Chinese restaurants were 2 Korean guys walking around.

 

So what were you looking for? mainstream or small hole in the wall joints? give me some ideas.

 

Yea...I am not trying to disrespect the chinese people in DC area. But the Chinatown is pretty Ghetto. I don't see any young Asian people at all and I bet i saw more bums than Chinese people. Sure, i probably don't worry too much myself, but i don't think it's very safe for my sister to walk around in that street, even in the morning.

Where do the Asian people hang out in Virgina area? Is there a particular area that has more modern Chinese restaurants? Maybe Asian type food? AND SAFER? LOL

China town does is nothing more then a name, it hasn't been China town in years. I heard many years ago it was at one point but hell, that could have been 20-30 years ago if not more.

Nothern VA is where all the Asians hang. DC = George Town and um sight seeing that's about it.

Maryland has some good food joints but most of what you're looking for will be in NVA.

Lots of good Viet places, Korean Places, and a few ok Chinese places.

Arlington - Clarendon area has a lot of restaurants and it's close to georgetown. Sortof.

Chinese people don't hang around VA much, they mostly migrated to MD aka Rockville. But you'll have to PM bb1314 for details: he's the Chinesest guy in the Mid-A.

 

Can someone give me an address in maryland, maybe an Asian shopping center? In California, we have big Asian shopping center that has Asian supemarket, some asian food (not fusion food).

that's the only thing i can think of. that's a good taiwanese restaurant that's fairly cheap and near it is a chinese supermarket. definitely doesn't qualify as a asian shopping center but that's all i can think of.

Great Wall Supermarket is the best Chinese market around, It's off of Gallows Road in falls church They seem to have the best Seafood selection in the DC/MD/VA area.

Live frogs, turtles, eel, snails, many difference crabs, lobsters, and tons of fish.




I just had Vietnamese noodle salad (bun) for dinner. Made at home.

Right across from Kam Sam, there are 2 Chinese restaurants. Bob's Noodle House (Taiwanese food). I generally go there and order a shxt load of appetizers. Then there's Sze Chuan Pavillian. If you like spicy food, that's a great place to eat. Just be prepare to sit on the toilet for a bit since that place is no joke with their spices.
