I was planning on attending, but I am in the points in my autox club and can't miss any more events. I am hoping to squeeze an event in during late Sept.

That's on SP main, which is good. If you can't make this one, SCCA has events on main in late September and late October. I think TrackDaze has an event in there as well. I know they go to VIR in November also.

Never been to a NASA event but I hear the TrackDaze guys are mostly NASA folks.

I'll be going to the TrackDaze event the first weekend of October

October Shenandoah

Not the main course, but thats ok. TrackDaze is mostly NASA people because there is no racing with TrackDaze, only HPDE, so you get twice as much time with TrackDaze.

Well, maybe not TWICE, but certainly a LOT more.
With NASA, you get 3 track sessions per day, with Trackdaze you get 4. Also, each session with Trackdaze is significantly longer.
NASA is an awesome organization, but if you are looking to get the most track time for your money at HPDE level, there are many better options out there.

When I was looking for the most bang for the buck seat time, I was told TrackDaze. They were right plus the instruction is better. Before that, I did scca which is only $100 dollars less but not near. the track time. I was getting 3 x 20 min per day with scca and with Trackdaze I get 4 x 30 per day. Definitely more. The only reason I mess with scca is you can work 3 events and get one free.

Crawford! I heard you were pretty a badass driver now man! My Z33 is gone but I'm prepping a Z31 for track use, and its nearly there. Should be ready by the Trackdaze event in October.

With Trackdaze, you run 4 30 minute sessions each day, with NASA (and probably others like SCCA) you run 3 20 minute sessions. That sounds like double to me! Not that my car will be able to handle that much lol, we'll see. NASA is a great organization though, I learned a lot through them and probably wouldn't sign up with Trackdaze without doing my time that I did with them.

LOL....I guess you're correct! I never was that great at math!
And I totally agree with your comments about NASA. In fact, if you look at the ads in the back pages of Grassroots magazine, NASA uses a pic of my car in their ad for NASA mid-Atlantic!!!!!
I think you will enjoy your Z31. Their is a guy in NASA Mid-Atlantic who races one. Here is a vid of him at Summit Point (he is not the one who wrecks BTW!)

I've never been to any HPDE before I'm curious as to the quality of both NASA and TrackDaze.

MrKaira, is October the soonest HPDE for TrackDaze? I couldn't find their schedule on their site.

Next is Aug 26/27 which is a Thurs/Fri.

https://www.trackdaze.com/index.php?...hw_attendees=1

Thurs is VIR Full course. Fri is Grand East course which is a rare opportunity to run one of the longest tracks in the country (I think it is 4.2 miles)

after researching if more, I think I'll stick to trackdaze but I may just go to the next NASA because its closer. anyways, trackdaze seems more mid- Atlantic oriented. do they havea curriculum as in the completion of XXXX courses allows the driver to move up in skill? is there something awarded?

When you are passing most cars in your group, its time to move up to the next level! Both you and your instructor will know.
There is really nothing to be gained by trying to move up too quickly. All that will happen is that you will spend your time trying to keep out of the way of faster traffic - very stressful!!!!!!!!
Remember, the object here is to learn to drive fast while staying safe and having fun.
Looking forward to seeing you at the track one of these days

Trackdaze schedule:

Aug 26-27 Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 3.27 Miles Thursday Grand Course: 4.2 Miles Friday
Oct 2-3 Summit Point Raceway Shenandoah Circuit: 2.2 Miles
Oct 14-15 New Jersey Motorsport Park Lightning Raceway: 1.9 Miles
Nov 15-16 Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 3.27 Miles

NASA Mid Atlantic Schedule:

August 21-22 Summit Point Raceway (Main Course)
October 8-9-10 OKTOBERFAST VIRginia International Raceway (Full Course)
November 6-7 Summit Point Raceway (Main Course)

Crawford is completely right, you only move up when you are ready. After my first full weekend I was solo'd and told I was ready for HPDE2. Most of the time, it is suggested that after 4 events I think that you get moved up from HPDE1. The ONLY thing ever awarded is that once you get to HPDE3/4 (not sure exactly when) you have the opportunity to pursue an actual racing license, but you have to have the skill and the proper equipment to get it.

The only event I can make it to this year is the October 2-3 event. Next year I should be able to make it to more. We'll see!

Are these events for modded or bone stock cars (well I have a CAI but that's it!) or both?

I have run 100's of laps at both Summit and VIR in a kart and I was thinking it might be fun to compare what it's like in my Z.

Stock cars are fine.....I'd swap to a high temp brake fluid and make sure the pads have plenty of life though.
