Skyline Drive 3 OCT 2010
How about an NZC autocross.....it is too late to reserve a lot for exclusively us, but we can piggy back off of one of the other clubs. I'd be down for a fall cruise as well.

do you think you can plan one for maybe a week in october mike so we can make a thread exclusively for it??
I would like to learn how and get to do it and I think others would be too since there would be allot of noobs and noone would feel the pressure of just showing up to a full all out autocross and trying it for the first time.

I will just post here what my auto-x schedule is for the month....you can decide which you think would work best.....
Sept 18/19: Sat: Cumberland, MD Autocross
Sun: Cumberland, MD Autocross
Sept 25/26: Sat: CDC Autocross Bowie, MD
Sun: OFF
Oct 2/3: Sat: Off
Sun: Off
Oct 9/10: Sat: CDC Bowie, MD ****I think this would be the best bet.
Sun: Mercedes Autocross Winchester, VA
Oct 16/17: Sat: Off
Sun: Autocross Inc. Waldorf, MD
Oct 23/24: Sat: Cumberland, MD Autocross
Sat: Cumberland, MD Autocross
Oct 30/31: Sat: BMW Chapterfest & Autocross Bowie, MD
Sun: Off
Nov 6/7: Sat: Off (?)
Sun: Mercedes Autocross Winchester, VA
I will say this though....the Autocross inc. and Cumberland events are really more for experienced guys, but all can run there. They are also the most expensive.

I think the Oct 9 would be better. There will be a ton of cars running at that BMW club event. It is their large annual thing......they just host an autocross as a part of it.
Over the past 6 years, one thing I've noted is that Z guys don't go to driving events =)
General rule of thumb for meets:
Anything under $20/Free (but we HIGHLY prefer free)
BBQ's (that someone sponsors and we don't have to pay for)
Models (same as above)
Photoshoots
Anything related to standing around in a parking lot (any lot within 10-15 mi of one's home, 16mi is TOO FAR FYI)
LNR's
Carwashes
Cruises (within a driving distance of 1hr or less, but only once a year, twice is pushing it)
Food Meets ($10 and under preferred, that's including drinks)
Car Shows

When I do see a Z at a track event I usually talk to him and ask him if he's on the forums. He says yeah, but I'm not on there a lot. Most of the Mid-A want to either drag, or go to car shows. The drifting, auto-crossing, and road racing is left up to a few Mid-A peeps.

Exactly which is why I don't really ask anyone from the Mid-A to go to the track not to drag, but to AutoX or do a Trackdaze. I wish the Z Club would rent out the track at summit point much like the other car clubs do, or even start an autoX circuit much like the CDC or BMWNCCA. I'm beginning to think the average Z owner only really cares about drag racing and car shows, which it not a bad thing.

If we ever did an event that raised enough money to pay for a track day then rejust had to charge to make it back i would be all over it.
maybe next year we can try to do it.
When you consider track days.....not only is it the exorbitant up front cost that will be a problem, but unlike corvette club/BMW/etc we lack instructors. We would have to reach out to those clubs for instructors, and that would likely make for a more diverse "track day".

I would love to get to rent out summit point and drive the track and all the problem is getting enough people to prepay and commit.

I agree finding enough Z/G drivers to prepay would be hard. If a few of us that do go to the track around here start promoting how good we are doing, and that it can be fun then I think more people would come out. I envy the BMW club, CDC, and some of the other car clubs that put on large events where you have track/autoX events. I was at an event a few months ago with the Porsche Car Club and Ferrari Car Club. Those guys were getting it on the track at summit point. They were all having fun and driving their cars for what they were designed to do. I feel that we can have that type of experience with the Z it's just that we have a lack a lot of interest in people tracking their Z in AutoX or road racing.
Even though I'm not a member of the NZC I would help out a lot in getting that setup, promoted, and anything else needed to pull of a successful event.

Mike I agree we need instructors. I think we could get some instructors to come to our events for a fee. However, as some of us get more experienced in AutoX, Trackdaze and/or SCCA we could have some Z instructors of our own. Plus we have some very experienced Z drivers in other parts of the country that could help out as well (just a thought). We have to start somewhere and if that means a little diversity in track days until we get to the point of being self sufficient then I'm all for that. We would need the turn out of our own cars to make it stick though....

I think opening it up is the only way we could really do it until we have more people interested in the track and willing to pay the price too.
until then we need to get with the Porsche club or Ferrari club and join them lol
