When I used to be a firefighter, we'd have to set up landing zones in fields and on highways for severe accidents and guide the helo's in to land. Once they were down, we'd move the victim in on a the stretchers and the wash from the blades spinning was astounding, plus the smell of burning fuel was just strange to those who'd never smelled it before. I remember the first time I'd ever done it, I was so worried about getting hit by the blades I felt like I couldn't get low enough to the ground, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. I'll give it to those pilots, they had ***** to land in some of the places they had to land in.

I remember a time last summer when a bad accident happened on 15N (one after 270N) and they blocked everything off, got a heli in, etc.
