Default My new Beater Car

A Galant VR-4 (Only 3000 were imported to the US)
2000 in 1991 and 1000 in 1992, I have 923/2000.




AWD, AWS, 5MT, Turbo, and a iron block 4G63T motor.

Engine Components

1995 and up stock 8.5:1 CR Pistons with factory rings for same, balanced
Stock 1st Gen 6 bolt rods, balanced
Stock 1st Gen 6 bolt crankshaft, balanced and micropolished
Head resurfaced
Block resurfaced
Mains line-bored
ARP Rod bolts
ARP Head studs
ARP Main studs
Balance shafts removed
1997 and up Updated HLAs, larger bore
Crower Valvesprings, (P/N 68190)
HKS 264 Exhaust Camshaft, (P/N 2202-RM004)
Unorthodox Racing Ultra TR Adjustable Cam Sprockets, custom purple
Stock valves
Mitsubishi Multi-layer Metal Head gasket
90 Oil filter housing
2nd Gen Mazda RX7 oil cooler with -10 AN lines
Road Race Engineering Stainless Steel turbocharger oil supply line
Custom shortened Modine radiator for intercooler pipe clearance
Silicone coolant lines

Induction and Exhaust

TD05H-20g turbo with moderate clip, 7cm housing, all heavily ported
Dejon Tool 3" intake (P/N 2gQ)
GM 3" Mass Air Sensor, (P/N 2518-0303)
Spearco intercooler 24" x 8" x 3.75" (2-120 core), 2.5" inlet/outlet
1st Gen Non-Turbo throttle body with lower half removed and sealed (no ISC, no FIAV, no coolant lines)
1st Gen intake manifold, smoothed and ported
2nd Gen exhaust manifold, smoothed and ported to 7cm housing size, sealed with Road Race Engineering stainless steel 7cm turbo gasket and 4 layer metal exhaust manifold gasket
Victory Performance stainless steel tubular 2.5" o2 housing
Tial 40mm wastegate (1 Bar Spring) and open dumptube
2.5" downpipe, 3" high flow cat, 3" catback with Magnaflow muffler
GM 3" Mass Air Sensor, (P/N 2518-0303)
Manual boost controller

Those cars were KILLER back in the day in the street racing scene....ahhh the memories

I need to street tune it. Its got a brand new chip, so nothing been adjusted yet. I need to buy a Wideband also.

Yea, I heard bad things, but all were about the Balance shafts belts breaking, which in turn throw the timing belt, which that leads to bend valves. Thankfully the balance shafts were removed already.

Another thing was the weaksauce tranny, but I don't drag or powershift, so I hope it holds up.

Looks like it's a tune-on-a-chip, how do you plan on tuning it? Apex-i AFC adjustments only? How you going to deal with timing?
