Default Regrets on moving to SC

So, it's been a long time... I have been reading around and see some familiar faces and alot of new ones. I see some shops are in trouble and others are thriving ahhh life in the Mid-A everyday filled with drama and excitement. Some of you should recognize my "new" screenname LOL

So about two years ago now I decide to leave the Mid-A (Baltimore) and move to Myrtle Beach SC. Let me tell you that was one hell of a mistake!! back home I had a decent job made decent money no 6 figure income or anything (unfortunately LOL) but good enough for me. I decided after 6 years of running a large business it was time to move on to something better, somewhere nicer, closer to the beach, and a bigger house for less money. Too bad I didn't do my homework and hastily just rolled out of Baltimore, in the last two years I have worked in Landscaping and as a chef, two thing I have absolutely no experience with "job wise" South Carolina has one of the highest unemployment rates and jobs pay close to nothing here. It's a "poor" area really, just a vacation town.

I am totaly stuck now, down on funds, expired tags on my car and no work for the winter. I don't know what the hell to do anymore... move back with mom and pop at 28 ughhh... I'd really like to move home (on my own) so whats the scoop up there guys is the job market still total ****?? I have ran Ferguson Enterprises for 6 years a large industrial supply chain. I designed water filtration systems for Aberdeen Proving ground and the US Army as well as procurement for SAIC they were my #1&2 customers (high profile stuff)
I cant cook in a restaurant anymore, it pays bills but it really SUCKS!!!

any input or random thoughts are appreciated, it's been a VERY rough 2 years for me. Sorry for a random post like this but I havent expressed myself in a while and needed to vent somewhere.

Marines were my choice but no can do as my right arm is loaded with hardware like steel plates, screws, pins, and other fun goodies thanks to my highschool hockey team who was #1 in the state all four years I played.

robing a bank sounds awesome but my spanish is lacking, so mexico would be rough.

I'm not sure what kind of job you're exactly looking for, but if it's along the lines of logistics or procurement, try looking at CH2M Hill and Bechtel. They have been in growth mode even during the recession in the VA/DC/MD area.

Swallow your pride, move back home and regroup. Just be ultra respectful to your parents and help them with things around the house and pay your share when you find a job. Show your parents you are trying and they will not fault you a bit, come home and go out drinking with friends all the time and Thanksgiving will be awkward forever.

Just my $.02 - besides, 28 is the new 20

Yeah I could have told you how back SC is and especially Myrtle. You could try Charlotte Area, we have a few jobs around and its alot better than SC...

Sorry to hear that, I agree with Cass, swallow your pride, come home and get your life together.

Did you leave Ferguson on good terms? Could you go back?

Sorry to hear this man, its been a long time... anyway I agree with the others, I would just move back home and start getting your resume back in to circulation. It seems you have plenty of experience. Do you have any old contacts in the industry you could call?

Agreed as most parents would welcome it especially since you've been away, and dont get down there are tons of people in the same boat with less options as you.
