Don't think they will let a civilian just come in and use there course
what you guys think is a better way.
Go into Navy, then get into Govt job along the lines of a police officer, FBI, DEA etc
or
Go into local County/state police, do a few years of service then try to move up to govt job.

Military seems to be the best route for what i want. get the security clearance, and experience. Also keep working towards my degree in CJ. Just wanted to get others opinion on it, been thinking about it for the longest time.
Yea man.. Kyle I worked with a lot of people that went that route. They did their time in the military. Then military paid for their education. Then they got into the government or a government contractor with the clearance they got from the military. Very good career route.

College, enlist, then get your main job.
Enlisting without a degree puts you on the peon level.
Why don't you do like Linh, get your degree or in her case, 2, at an online school, then apply for a TS job then once you get your foot in the door, start to apply for the job you want. That's the fastest/cheapest way to get in the door.
Just keep in mind, it's hard to get your TS, if you apply for a position that pays for your background work, you'll spend 3-6 months there then transfer into a different department and just keep it going until you're where you want to be.
I made it halfway through the police application process. I love the job, and have a lot of friends who are police both lower level and higher ups. I dropped out halfway through when I got tired of seeing the papers.
Every time you test for something, they put down a folder in front of you describing the job you will be doing as with the pay, back when I did it, it was $38K PG Co, AA co, and MSP were all $38K...... I couldn't get past that.
I had a one bedroom apartment at the time. If I became a police officer I would have no longer made the minimum salary level needed to rent my ONE BEDROOM apartment.
Only way I'd do police is Montgomery county since they do get paid more, just keep in mind they wont even take your application unless you have a degree, one of only ones in the state.
If you really want to be police, go apply with PG county, they will hire a white guy even with issues on their background, they need white police officers and are hiring like crazy, if you're white and haven't killed anyone you are pretty much guaranteed to get the job. Once you get your training and spend whatever time they make you work (x many years to pay back the training loan, or you buy out of it) then you can easily apply for a different county or state and transfer if they're hiring.
Next time you're around ask me questions. I can't get into too many details online.

Going the military/MP route might be a better option now. But if you do, try and finish out your degree while there. The Army paid a % of my books/tuition for classes I took while in Germany and while I was stateside. I paid one semester's tuition out of pocket and the rest Uncle Sam picked up. Definitely stay towards the Navy or Air Force. They're way more focused on you continuing your education than the other branches. Good luck whatever route you choose to go. [BTW, get everything your recruiter says in writing and try and get as many bonuses/etc as you can from them]
Clay is right. READ YOUR CONTRACT. Its the most important thing you can do. You dont want to end up an army photographer or something when you really wanted to be an MP. Also get ready for standing next to a stupid *** plane in the rain and snow for 12 hours a day.
