Depends on the bike, where you live, where you keep it (inside garage or street)
My record is clean, no tickets. Full coverage, with high limits - same as my auto policy its excessive but whatever. Bundled with my other cars its $40/month for my SVS.
State Farm. I hear All State and Progressive are better with bikes now. Everyone will give you better prices if you give them more than just a bike to insure.

Insurance agents arent stupid, a 900cc SS bike in a girls name = red flag. You are getting charged a speed demon fee lol.
Did a local agent or State Farm direct tell you that on the paperwork? That sounds like BS, but then again so is your story so they may actually want her to sign a clause that states nobody else can ride it.

This is all over the phone crap but he seems so hesitant about just giving me the damn quote. Its either this much or that much & bs.
well he never mentioned anything about a clause about who can ride it.
i just dont understand how my friends at at about 21-22 got their 600s and were rolling around with no M license and got tags and cheap insurance??
IF YOU WANNA GET RAPED I WILL SELL IT TO YOU.

I had what I thought was a great local agent until a fiasco with the Z and mods. I like local agents as you generally can talk to the same one or two people.
You could try direct but I dont see how that will help lower that price more than half.
Try elsewhere would be my advice.
If your boys told you they paid XX for insurance they were likely lying or their agents gave them MD legal minimum limits and no full coverage. Without seeing receipts dont believe anything. Keep in mind I have 2 cars and home insurance with SF, so the multi policy discount is awesome. My father insurance only a 2011 Rav 4 with my local agent and pays $130/month, thats what I pay for my Z + DD, and the Z has extra mod coverage.
It sometimes makes sense to add condo, renters, home insurance because it will pay for itself if the mutli policy discount is enough. May want to ask them.
You shouldnt pay for than mid 60's/month for that bike full coverage. All this talk makes me want to go cancel the full coverage on mine so I can save $20/month on that old POS.

Bert what do you think about the Icon (brand doesnt really matter) chest protectors??
I have seen alot of input on it but wouldt it just be better to get a nice riding jacket??

Motorcycle insurance is weird. I've been quoted anywhere from $30 a month to $400+ a month for full coverage. I've had companies straight out say that they price them so high because they don't want to insure them.
As of right now State Farm is hands down the cheapest place to insure a motorcycle.
However, there's a catch. Few years back they wouldn't insure a motorcycle unless you also had your car on the same police. Now they will insure just a motorcycle however the rates are different, once you add a car to the police the rates will drop 50%+ for the bike.
Before leaving State Farm I was paying $3x.xx a month for full coverage with a very low deductible. Only reason I left state farm is their car/truck insurance prices kept going up and up and up.
Progressive cannot match statefarm for full coverage, however once you remove collision they're right there with state farm. I currently have liability + comp on my 919 and GSX-R1000 however I do not have collision since if I'm ever at fault for a crash I never plan on using insurance I'd rather rebuild the bike myself.
With that being said I currently pay $42 a month for both bikes. Liability + comp but no collision. I also have stupid high levels of coverage, way more then a motorcycle needs.
Credit also plays a big roll in insurance, so keep that in mind, also if the bike is insured under your GFs name they will most likely not cover you if you ever get in a crash. They might say its ok, but once they need to write you a check they will F you.
Put the bike in your name, have it insured in your name, and get basic coverage + comp (for if its stolen) collision is a waste.
Wreck a bike at fault and need it fixed by insurance? Kiss your insurance bye bye, chances are after fixing it they'll drop your bike insurance and also drop your car, if not the car they will get jacked up so high you will want to go to maif.
Pics of GF?
