WTF is going on in the mid-a
LOL Keith. You're absolutely right. My prediction is: if no one is modding their cars, there's not really much to talk about. We're on a car forum after all... and a forum that does not mod their car and/or too broke to mod = not much to talk about = no motivation to attend a meet. If there are no meets, no one knows each other which means only the OG's talk.
Notice back in the golden era of Mid-A (2003-2007) there were no such things like... "random discussion threads," because frankly, there was at least 10-15 threads started PER DAY to lurk through, and that goes for the same number of awesome For Sale threads. Nowadays, what is there to say anymore? No meets, no ricing it out, no one is buying anything, ...nada!
It will only pick back up when the 350z platform turns into the next Silvia crowd where the car becomes cheap enough for a mass population to own. (We're talking about $1-3k purchase prices)
And with that being said, Mid-A probably lost 70% of its energy from mid-07' till now. Most of the older guys met each other 5+ years ago and hang out amongst one another. The newer guys don't really contribute (minus a select few) and I don't blame them since this place sorta became a ghost town!

I totally agree Keith, what the hell happened to this place??? We gotta bring it back to life!
In my opinion there were not enough meets these past couple years, not so much that people were not modifying cars...

The meets kinda fell off man. People got tired of doing the Chik-Fil-A meets and then guys that live in MD ***** about coming to VA and the folks that live in VA ***** about going to MD. Lack of dedication to the community in my opinion. I am all about meets but me myself - I fell off cause I got tired of driving out to Sterling everytime for a meet to be honest with you. The last huge gatherings of people were at the following events:
Function Tuned Toy Drive
D&V Auto Meet
Skyline Drive
Cook out/ Birthday Party at my crib in Alexandria (Mostly G35 folks though)
Cook out over Bernies
Transformers Release in Annapolis (Mostly G35 folks again)
Those are just a few of my observations. Bottom line is who is going to step up and actually get something organized? If its a true community who gives a crap if you have to drive 30 - 40 miles to hang out with real car peeps that you kick it with every day on the forums.

abui pretty much nailed it
The OG's all talk regularly and still hang out, minus the influx of new, usually stubborn, inexperienced noobs. But not all noobs are like that.
Personally, I see the post quality of the forums in general and it makes me not want to meet most of the people here. All the gay "oh hai" back and forth BS is for f@gbook

I don't go to meets in an effort to prevent the modbug from biting. It's kind of sad, but I'm sure if I went to a few meets, I'd have a TT Z in no time. My wallet would kill me.
The same thing happened to the regional forum on the maxima forum. It used to be the section with the most posts on that whole site then it just died. It was mostly due to the new rules that were imposed in the section. Now we're all on facebook. I really dont post here that much anyway but I'm always checking for meets.
