My motors making some noise at low rpms, and intially at start-up, then idles fine. sounds like a rod knock to me, but its quiet past 3k, dosent seem to have lost power, no metal in the pan. oil psi still good.. I found this has happend to a few people, but nothing about repair. Is this worth fixing, or is it time for a new short block??

Are you sure it's not valve tap?
