I got raped in VA

I would imagine they were "hating" on you because you have a mental disability. If I asked 10000 people if they saw a cop in their rear view would they continue to drive faster then the speed limit posted, I am sure that 9999 would say they would slow down. You are that one person who said "the cop isn't going to poll me over, I'm not doing anything wrong".
I am pretty sure they do mean good in all the hate. They just want to try and make you evolve like the other 99.9%.

Vivid-please STFU and know when to leave, you couldn't be more wrong as many have proven over and over in this thread. If you dont get it, please go back to selling parts.
edit-why are you guys paying so much for lawyers, are they that crazy in VA? My Lawyer in MD was $350, and got me off 10 points, wreckless and 98/55mph.

Proves the youth... Can't take forum criticizing... No one is hating, people just get annoyed when they see dumb kids bringing attention to themselves... Maybe this will be a reality check and while your in court you'll realize you drive a sports car, your young and your word usually means dick compared to a cop? 10-100mph over the limit, you still did it in front of a cop... Maybe your getting reckless charges because your an idiot to speed in front of police, and it just shows your ignorance and you annoyed him...

The cop accused us VERBALLY of racing. On the ticket he dint write down racing just Reckless because he knows that we weren't racing he just needed to fill his "quota" because that's what they do every end of the month and i guess this one was short so he needed to put in work. Im not saying i dint do anything wrong i know i was speeding and ill take the speeding ticket but i just don't like getting accused for things i dint do that's why im a bit mad for the reckless
but thank you for those that are positive help!
and those with the negative posts, Hi haters!!!
guess there's one everywhere

They are not hating, they are just getting frustrated with how dumb you look.
Im sure the cop just gave you a reckless to fill his quota.... sure. And then he went to Seven Eleven and took a female customer to jail because he hasn't arrested any hookers in a while.
Seriously. My350Z Mid-A section is the place where MOST people will actually listen to you without ********ting when talking about street racing. You would have been burned and banned on any other forum or section.
You are just pushing yourself deeper into the hole with your comments and attitude.

Dude got owned pretty hard in this topic. But, I'm just going to go ahead and echo what Alberto and others were saying about SPEEDING when you know there's a cop behind you. ESPECIALLY in VA. ESPECIALLY without a radar detector.
ONLY in VA (NOT MD, NOT DC, NOT Delaware, NOT THE WHOLE MID-A) can you get pegged with wreckless driving for doing 10 over the speed limit. I don't know why anybody would want to live in VA.
Not to mention also making a right turn without a signal (or something of that nature) will result in $2,000 fines.
As long as you get a high end Beltronics, V1, or Passport, then no, you will not get caught if you know what you're doing. They make detectors with VG2 immunity.

I have a V1 and its not easily spotted and I was pulled over in VA and given a ticket for it. Have no idea how the cop saw it or knew about it, I wasn't speeding or doing anything crazy at the time.
Even if unplugged, if its on the windshield it can be written up.

V1's don't have a quick release button?

I'm going to repeat myself. I got a reckless driving summons (not a traffic ticket) for going 86 in a 65 zone on 95N near Richmond. I was driving home from Florida. It was barely sunrise and there were hardly any cars on the road. I came up behind a cluster of vehicles (two semi's and three cars). I was driving around 75-80 as I approached and accelerated to get past the cluster of vehicles, pushing my speed up to the mid-80's.
One of the cars turned out to be an unmarked state trooper. He pulled behind me as I was passing everyone, then came right up on my butt and put his lights on.
Reckless driving in Virginia is a criminal offense with the penalties detailed by the poster above. It would be suicide to go to court and attempt to defend yourself. I paid a lawyer a $1500 flat fee and the charge was dropped to preserve my clean record. The lawyer argued that the speed was determined in a way that could not be 100% accurate. Speedometers are not exact (either in the police vehicle or my rental car). Plus, I have a clean record so the lawyer requested that be given consideration.
Forget about all the talk here about attitude, speeding in the presense of a cop, and so forth. It's not solving your immediate problem. Get a lawyer and take your lumps in cash instead of having yourself pegged with a criminal record that will follow you the rest of your life. That's all there is to it.

If you don't get it after reading this, you might as well remove the thread.

V1's are definitely detectable despite their claims. Trust me..I speak from personal experience. They are great units...other than the undetectable part.
One of the best radar and laser defense combos for years was the V1 with a Blinder M27 (or other) jammer set-up.
The Beltronics Sti Driver is one of the best units out there for the money right now if you live in VA that doesn't cost $1500+ and require custom installation. It has great long range detectability. It really is undetectable too.
The next best is the Escort 9500 but has been shown to be detectable through testing.

V1 cannot be detected until you reach a 100ft radius of a "radar detector detector." Other brands can be detected 300, 500, or even upwards of 1000ft away (cheaper ones of course.) Though I wouldn't press my luck w/ any radar detector in VA regardless of it's undetectability rating.
Robbie is correct, the Belltronics STi Driver is the only known undetectable unit. Everything else can be detected (range dependent.)
However in this case, it wouldn't have helped the OP anyways... so back on topic!

I just finished going through one of these tickets. I was caught outside Kings Dominion (70mph zone) going 86. I had -1 on my record. I had a lawyer. I just had to go take class (no points awarded or taken off) and pay court fees.
Guy before me. He had +7 (actually I think this was more) already and was caught driving 66 in a 45. After pleading to the court (with his lawyer), he only had a hefty fine ($600) with points added to his record and a restricted license for 90 days.
What to take from these two cases. It's all on how the judge is feeling and your attitude. Go into the court room humble, get a lawyer and be optimistic. Granted, this may not be the same outcome for you but hey, those are two cases that didn't go bad with higher speeds involved.
