Thumbs down Less and less Meets...

Echoing what Corey was talking about, I'm not going to single out anybody or anything, but it kinda feels like there aren't as many meets going on cause well..people don't feel like putting out the money/traveling out unless it's down the street or something.

I mean the last time I remember having a meet outside of MD was for the Fast and Furious meet in Tyson's Corner. I would've went to other meets as well (if there were any others outside of the state) if my car wasn't down for as long as it was, but if you guys notice, every meet since my car has been fixed, and prior to the damage, I've been to.

Funny part is, when I first got my second Z in January, I was making 8.5 an hr at Rite Aid, rarely working more than 30 hrs a week (not by choice, fcking bastards..) And I made it to Tyson's Corner meet, I made it to Union Jacks and Pub Dog, and I made it to the parking lot meets, and I even made it to the track. I didn't say shyt about gas being $4 a gallon, or anything. You know why? Because I wanted to hang out and have fun that badly that I didn't care if I couldn't get that video game or do other misc. things, and I didn't care if I drained every penny of my account. Goddamnit, I bought a Z and I am going to enjoy it and it's community!

It's not like we're driving Acura Integra's or Nissan Sentra's, or some other 4k beater cars, we're driving Z's and there's no excuses for us as a whole to be so cheap when it comes to meets and things like that. (Like I said, not pointing out anybody in particular, so if you feel the need to negatively respond to me, then I know what's up.)

I just felt the need to address this obvious issue..so let's get some meets going, and make 2012 the best year for the Mid-A ever!

I feel you bro, Money isnt an issue for me...and driving distances isnt either.

Im just kinda bored with meets in general, always the same people and it's just gotten boring. Im down to hang out with the Mid A folks though because i mean you guys are like good friends to me.

So im down for anything as long as I get advanced notice

Sounds like you need to be the motivated guy that sets up interesting events and activities and encourages folks to come out to your events. Not sure that anyone else is to blame for not having as many events as you would like to see... just take the reigns as a motivated individual and come up with something that folks just can't imagine missing. Also, polling others in your area for what would be interesting, when/where is convenient, etc. - all of that will help improve your chances of high attendance.

GL!

I'm with Goof on this one. Money really isn't a big deal for most of us older folks. The problem is whether the meets interest me enough to attend. I've done my fair share of standing around parking lots checking out each others cars for the 150's time in 25 degree weather. That seriously just doesn't seem appealing to me anymore. Now when I do attend a meet I'm not going for "the scene" but really going to hang out with old friends (not those asshats that tried to steal your parts or girls). So if I see a bunch of noobs trying to invite me to stand around at a parking lot checking out their pop chargers? You bet I ain't wasting my Saturday afternoon doing that when I could be spending quality time with family.

So Shin if you're gonna complain, setup something worth awhile for us old timers to attend. And you're gonna say "My christmas invite was epic but no one wanted to attend!". The content speaks for itself. If it sucks, it sucks and we're not going to be like "aww at least he tried".

I don't mind driving down to NOVA for meets. Maybe reaching out to more than one make and model would keep things more interesting too. Cops have been putting the stop to every car gathering around York and Gettysburg

Well I thought ZDayZ would be cool, but there seems to be no interest at all. I know it's a long drive, but we could always meet for dinner/lunch halfway there and then continue the drive.

I mean you just went with Corey and a few others to a bar esque place, so I thought that Union Jacks would be a good idea. Plus we did Union Jacks before and everybody who went had fun. Why not do it again?

Most of us are getting older and exploring other interests outside of the car. Does that make it wrong that we're maturing and you're still stuck in that mode that we've already passed through?
Next Spring/Summer is right around the corner and I'm sure most of us will be getting together on a regular basis. I'm in with E10, Goof and Jeffie. I'd much rather hang as a small group at either a bar, restaurant or someone's house and just chill.
The parking lot scene got mad old a long time ago. Maybe you'll be the one to lead the next group of young cats that want to stand around and compare wheels and bodykits.

+1 to what Clay said

Who has ever complained about not going to a meet over money? I don't think money is the issue.

Life takes over when you grow up and a car meet is the last thing on your mind or many times the last thing you wanna do when you finally catch a day to relax. I still love cars I just don't feel the need to have to show off my car at all nor do I wanna stand around young kids with zits popping off as they ask stupid questions.

I chill with my Z friends almost weekly, funny cuz I see more Mid-A peeps now than when I was your age Shin. Saw a few last night!

We got so crazy last weekend that Margo broke a chair and Roberto had to pick up the pieces.
