I used to laugh at the notion of bug out bags, emergency rations and stocking up on guns and ammo. After what I've been seeing lately, lets just say I'm getting my sh*t together...

Eh i have guns and ammo, also usually have food/drink at the house so dont see the reason for a bug out bag/rations. If something crazy is going to happen its not like you will have enough rations, so guns/ammo I would agree on rest meh.

Never hurts to be prepared. I usually keep water stocked up too. Got some pretty evil looks walking out with 8 gallons of water Saturday...like a BAWSE!

lol all in one hand, yeah i mean i have thought about getting MREs but never did it. I dont really see the need in this area, if we get 1 or two more storms like the one that just came through but closer to this area then yeah might have to reconsider.

If you only think a storm can lead to needing a BOB you are being naive.

Many things can lead to society breaking down, that's another thread.

Agreed. My boy on FB who lives in Jersey is talking about fistfights breaking out at local gas stations in places hit hardest by the storm. Doesn't take much to turn civil people into savages, especially when resources start getting scarce.

If society breaks down, ill take the hit. I don't see anything like that happening anytime soon. A plague/loss of power perminetly would make that happen, but yeah other then that what else is going to cause that Alberto?

The reason people are saying that is the path changed and the media hyped it up as always. Honestly it wasnt **** (in this area), work was closed mon/tues for no fawking reason. Yes there are places that got hit hard but it was a cat1 with a cat3 core so lets call it a cat 2 overall. I mean Ivan was a cat 5 at and it only killed 14 people. (yeah any death is bad but 14 for a cat 5 is pretty low IMO) so if people were not prepared with all the media BS or had the I am going to stay anyway then fawk it, thats on them. Sandy was BS overall, but the places that got hit got hit hard. The sad thing is insurance companies will screw over people as always.

Well, y'see, I'm thinking about more than just myself. I'm looking at Jersey, OC, etc. But I do agree the media way overhyped this thing..the inner harbor did flood a little bit, and my dad said that one of the main roads were undriveable..people turning around, cars getting stuck, etc., so IMO it wasn't a complete 'letdown' so to speak.

So a little bit of flooding in a harbor, not to surprised. People driving down here are stupid so yeah, still a "letdown" in my book. Media needs to be fawking shot.

I dont get paid when I don't go to work, so yeah I am complaining. Work opened at 12 on tues was able to get 6hrs in. So have to do 34hrs in 3 days I normally do 10hrs a day 8-6. So yeah kind of a PITA especially when I take fridays off. So this "storm" has cost me friday off and making me work even crazier hours to still get paid the correct amount. Thats my reason to be mad at the stupid media BS.

Lawl, its not like I don't have the PTO to cover the time, but i would rather save it and not call in "sick" to hang with the boys. Also sad thing is I could work 20hrs a week and still make more then you.
