[NSFW] Mid-A Epic Random-ness: Third Encounter
got a buddy that works @ the BMW dealership, here's what he had to say about the turbo 3 series:
"WORST piece of $h!t car I've ever worked on. I lost count of how many of them come in for recalls/$h!t breaking. It's the MOST frequently serviced car here!!!"
With that being said, get some super good warranty, and don't mod it.

I assume the 135i isn't any different over the 335i? What BMW forums should I look on?
Also, what common problems are there with the car, if he mentioned it?

I just bought an IS-F for my daily driver. I did a shake down at VIR last month and she handles great for a stock car. I'm still in the process of buying a GT-R as my track toy. The F is a great car for daily driving and it's semi-fast. I'm in my mid 30's and couldn't drive a Z to work anymore. I just didn't feel professional. I still have the Z. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it. I have video of the F on the dyno. Will post soon.

Thanks C5!
I thought about turning the Z into a "Spec-Z" so it can run in that series.
Then I thought about sending it to Z Fever in Florida to have the VR38DETT bottom end, 370z heads, and greddy turbo kit put on.
I think though the cheapest route would be the Spec-Z option. I still want to buy a GT-R though. I want something fast on the street and track and still be able to daily drive. The F just isn't fast enough. With headers, intake and exhaust I can get 400whp on the F. The only tune for it is in Japan and that will yield 440 ish whp with supporting mods.
If I turn the Z into a Spec-Z it will be co-owned and driven by me and 2 of my friends that race. So the costs will be spread out across 3 people. Leaving me plenty of money for the GT-R.
Here's the video. I wanted to stay near the front of the car to hear the secondary intakes open. Plus the shop was small and I couldn't stand far back enough to get a wide shot.

Looks good man, yea the spec-z. Option seems like a good one.
Too bad there aren't more tuner options for the F, 400-440 whp is pretty decent but sounds pricey. GTR sounds like it will be a better fit

Yeah the tuner options for "flashing" the ECU are limited to ONE. ProEFI is working on a solution though. Headers, intake, exhaust and tune will run around 5-6k when all said and done. I think I will just put the money on the GT-R. 6k into a GT-R will get me pretty decent power.

Looks like in 2011 335i BMW replaced the N54 engine with the N55 engine. Going from Twin Turbo to single "Twin Scroll" Turbo. Wonder if they fixed any of the issues when changing engines.
Kyle get off that platform idea man. I'd own one as a secondary DD not an only car. Look how common the HPFP problems are. Modded car with a failing FP? No thanks.
I'd rather get a used CTS-V. I'd buy a wagon so I could carry all my friends and $hit and still rape 90% of these clowns on the streets.
