Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the FATHER of the bride usually foot the bill for a wedding? And even if they pay as a couple, couldn't they do a small family/friends ceremony for cheap?

That is a strictly American thing. In all other cultures the groom's side pays the bill for weddings.

For Chinese, the groom pays for a big wedding. But family especially the elders would give the groom money (in red envelops) instead of useless gifts. The idea is that the money should cover the expense of the wedding. Now my plan is to marry an American white girl, so that way her father pays for the wedding but at the same time my family will give me money for the wedding. I can easily make 20, 30k by doing that. yeahhh.. I know

Doubt to many family are paying for the weddings now a days. I imagine its more common for the bride/groom to split the bill.

Me and Nicole paid for our wedding ourselves out of pocket. Neither of out parents have money. Some of her family did pay for her wedding dress though and my parents paid/hosted the rehearsal dinner

My wedding was around $45 for marriage license, and the guy to marry us.

The party cost us about $1000 for food and drinks, linh made her own wedding cake and we had it at my parents house so rent was cheap.

I wouldn't do it any other way.

Why everyone wants to start their marriage out with debt blows my mind.

I still have people telling us we had the best wedding anyone has gone to.

Show up, eat and leave.

Zero ********.

Exactly! I don't get it at all. I hear all the time, "Oh she wants a huge rijg blah blah blah." Personally I think she better realize what she is getting married for. I'd leave I I got a complaint.

gotta cater to the girl's wants & needs.

Dress: 15k
Location: 20k
Food: 10-15k (depending on how many ppl)
Limo services: 1k
Flowers: 10k
Ring: 15-20k
etc.

60-80k easily. Just take out a loan and make monthly payments. You can be debt free in only 15 yrs.

I'd be single right now if that was the case.

My wife has a big family so the wedding was a decent size. However we ended up making a few bucks because as Ethan said everyone at the wedding paid their way and then some. I couldnt believe how generous everyone was.

I was definitely nervous and didnt believe her when she talked about how the Asian guests paid their own way.

We spent 12k on the wedding and 3k on the honeymoon. Paid cash so didn't incur any debt but did use up allot of the savings. We had a 125 person guest list so the venue was 8500 so that was he majority of the budget.

Overall I was really happy with my wedding and don't regret spending the money. We were married on the water and had the ceremony and reception at the same place and had 5 hours there for he price.

We made our own center pieces and allot of that stuff to save money and just went with the bare basics to cut costs.

That is my intention but I am only shopping around. I don't know what is good for me or what I should be looking at. Figured I would talk to there representative and go from there. I was looking at Gary Fisher bikes over a year or so ago but never pulled the trigger.

Mine is likely going up for sale soon 2012 Trek/Fisher Cobia, but the frame might not be correct for your height

That's where I went the first time and where I plan to buy my bike but I have heard about REI and wanted to check them out. I have two purchases I want before spring hits, MTN Bike and a Paintball gun. Would really like to start paint balling again.
