Default Not to worry.

I would Highly doubt he'll get ya. But there are stories out there of people that could beat ya with those mods. About 2 years ago someone sent me a video of a guy in orlando with a white Celica GTS that ran a 14.2 with just an Intake. Now rumor has it he was running high 14's completely stock so My guess is this guy is just gifted or he has one hell of a motor from toyota.

OK, mid 15s for him, low 14s for you. Now well look at these mods:

-AEM Headers
5-10 hp tops.

-Short Throw Shift Kit
No hp gain

-Racing clutch kit
No hp gain

-Unortho Alum Flywheel
Maybe free up 5hp to the wheels.

-Unortho Underdrive pulley
5 hp.

8mm Magnacore wires and plat-4 plugs (no biggie)
Little to no hp gain. 1 or 2 tops.

Optimistally, he'll get 20hp out of these mods. Realistically, maybe 10 - 12.

So he'll be lucky to break into the 14s if his past record is any indication. You'll beat him by at least 10 car lengths in a ¼-mile race.

A 100hp shot of nitrous may put him in your league.

But no, you need not worry about your friend in the GTS unless he spends a good deal of money tuning his fuel mapping and has an LSD to keep that power to the ground.
hehe not to be an *** or anything but GTS never indicated a turbo for the celica..you thinking of the 5th gen celica all-trac turbo?

i dont think you have anything to worry about. even if he DOES beat you (which isnt going to happen) you can make fun him by telling him he has a girl's car!

Well, he won't beat you on a drag strip even with the mods and good driving. Maybe from a roll as the Celica's have a strong top end.

If he had a LSD and ran a 50 shot, he might be able to do it. One guy with a GTS and an LSD/ Flywheel/and exhaust was running 14.2 at NC. Org.

Celicas aren't really drag cars. They can haul *** on a road coarse, and if they have a Hotchkis suspension setup, they are faster then Lancers, but they were never meant to drag race.
