2. No LS1 car can hit a 12.8 stock. No way, not gonna happen, end of book. The LS1 corvette does about 13.6. And that is the fastest LS1 car there is. (actually the '02 camaro ss is about the same) The LS*6* corvette (aka Z06) does about a 12.5.

3. LS1 cars are faster (straight line) than the Z, but not by a whole hell of a lot, and older ones (non corvette) are about the same 1/4 mile. The Z however will eat anything short of a Z06 for breakfast on the track.

4. I respect LS1 cars, and have no beef, just wanted to put up some statistics.
Crazybosnian did a great job answering this, but I'll throw my $0.02 in so you can hear it from multiple people.

1. The LS1 makes slightly more power at the crank in the Corvette than it does in an f-car, simply due to exhaust layout. The y-car has a true dual exhaust, whereas the f-car has a y-piped setup. At the rear wheels, I've seen more stock Corvettes dyno lower then stock f-cars due to the IRS. If you really don't believe this, there's a article from Hot Rod magazine floating out around there... I'll find it for you of you'd like.

2. It takes a good driver, but it's more than possible to clock a 12-second run in a stock LS1 f-car at the strip. I think a lot of guys on this board are getting there stats from C&D, R&T, and MT. Problem is that these mags don't get there 1/4 mile times from a track, they get them from instrumenting cars and running them on there test lots, which have surfaces more like the street than a prepped strip. If you don't beleive me e-mail C&D, they're very clear and open about how they test.

3. Track times are highly dependant on driver. I've been racing on circle tracks and road courses since I was 11 - I'm very confident in my ability to run circles around someone in a Z at your average track day. But like so many of the 350Z drivers here that talk up the Z's track performance, I'll never know first hand. I got my street car to run on the street... haven't seen any hairpin, chicanes, or sweepers around my neighborhood. Maybe it's different where you live.

4. I didn't see any "statistics" - like most posts here I saw a lot of opinion.

Peace.

Oh yeah, D'oh's right by the way. No one owns Nissan. They merged with Renault a few years ago when auto mergers were the hip trend in the industry, but they've pretty much operated independent of one another since.

Ford has a controlling interest in Mazda, but to say they own them would be incorrect as well. Mazda still enjoys some degree of autonomy in certain cases. Otherwise we'd see the RX-8 on Ford lots as well, probably rebadged as the Probe

I'm reading through some other posts. I'm glad to see they're not all like this thread. I haven't seen so much ingnorance and wrong information and magazine racing in 1 thread in a long time.

Last time I was here this board didn't even have a racing section. I still remember when a lot of the members were dead set against posting kill stories. Looks like the board has changed a lot since then.

hum, i had a 95 TA with intake and exhaust and the best i could ever muster outta that pos at the track was a 14.1. I've said it before and i'll say it again, a stock LS1 will not run in the 12's. Motor trend tested them in the low 13's. Those guys do that for a living. They know how to squeeze every bit out of a car. But I guess you'll say you can do better right?

Do you really think that is saying much? I mean, that's like saying, "I can't seem to get into the 15's with my 350z. Geez, these things really aren't that fast."

I know you won't take my word for it, but those LS-1's are really formidable motors. And they are popular enough that some are bound to do remarkable things. And magazine tests are not the end-all of performance evaluations. If they WERE, then a stock 350Z would only do 14.2 in the quarter, and nothing more (going by C&D's times). But we both know that people here claim to have gotten into the 13's, right? Just because someone gets paid to do something doesn't necessarily mean that they're the best at it.

You ever gone to a car wash and looked at your car afterwards and said, 'Man, they did a sh!tty job"? So now you go and wash your car yourself and it looks better than when you paid someone to do it. It's kinda like that.

Wow. Very fun and informative.

Note to all who thrive on flaming and insulting others on these forums...it is unacceptable here. There are plenty of sites (including other 350Z sites) you can visit and flame the **** out of everyone and everything. This is not one of them. This goes for 350Z owners as well. If you do not want to be banned, then please act like an adult and try to share your opinions without insulting others.
